The food was absolutely amazing! It was a flavor bomb explosion in your mouth and nothing else mattered. The restaurant is small and comfortable and lunch was affordable. I live in Los Angeles and will never buy Sichuan Cuisine here again. OMG, delicious.
Had a weekday lunch at Chengdu Taste with a friend I hadn’t seen in 10 years… who later blocked me over something absurd (emotional spice level: 10). Hopes were high: this place made Jonathan Gold’s Best 101, after all. I ordered the toothpick lamb with cumin and the boiled fish with green pepper sauce ($18 each), but sadly, both dishes left me more confused than satisfied. Sichuan dishes with real numbing heat—mapo tofu and toothpick lamb are standouts. Servers will warn you about spice levels if you ask. Interior is simple and clean. Good for groups willing to share plates. Parking in the plaza can be chaotic at dinner
