Lee's Garden Taiwanese restaurant has been serving authentic, homemade Taiwanese food in LA since the 80s. The owner has maintained the same recipes and quality of food, offering dishes like stinky tofu and pork chop rice that are reminiscent of Taiwan. The restaurant's simple decor and cash-only policy may not be fancy, but the food is reasonably priced and truly authentic. The lunch and dinner sets, ordered by letter (A, B, C, etc.), evoke memories of traditional Taiwanese bento. This mom-and-pop shop is a hidden gem for those seeking homestyle cooking, with a daily changing menu and a three-item combo that is highly recommended.
The fried rice is better than the best ones in Banqiao. Everything was great, and good to have the traditional Taiwanese taste nowadays. The owner is thinking of closing down due to cost of business, so support him if you want to have his food in the future. The service is fast and efficient, and the place is quiet with plenty of parking in a shared lot.
Underrated, hole in a wall mom and pop shop. The flavor is reminiscence of mom and/or grandma's home cooking. Highly recommend getting the daily combo with any meat of your choice. The pork garlic sauce or fried chicken daily combo are both recommended. The daily combo comes with rice, fried egg, meat of your choice, and two sides of stir fried vegetable. The oyster omelette is also a big hit and delish.
