We had strawberry margaritas and they were VERY sweet. I had carnitas and half of it was very dry but the parts that were not were delicious. I was very disappointed in the flan, was a very dry and overcooked square shape and absolutely no Carmel sauce!
This is my very favorite Mexican restaurant in Bakersfield. We go there for every special occasion. The food is always great. The atmosphere is always perfect, and the staff is always wonderful. Best margarita too.
When going out for dinner, El Portal is chosen 99% of the time for our family. We have been going here since we moved to the area almost 15 years ago. Our boys were 1 and 3 and have literally grown up here. We've seen bussers promote to servers, servers leaving and coming back, and employees' family members join the team.
