1951 Coffee Company Reviews
There were three in my party. We ducked in here to take a break from the cold rain. We ordered a chai, a golden/turmeric chai, and a caffé latté, all with oat milk. It’s our first try of oat milk. We all liked it a lot. The foam on my golden chai was lovely. I’d reorder it anytime. I tried my mate’s latté with oat milk, I can recommend it. The pastries we ordered were all worth the consumption. I’m so glad there was one pretzel cheese bun left. It was delicious even...read full review

The 1951 Coffee Company is a stylish and upscale establishment with a clean and modern interior, as well as outdoor seating areas. The coffee, roasted in-house, is specialty coffee quality with fun new flavors that the baristas often contribute to. The bakery items are variably good, with a dry chocolate croissant being a notable exception. The atmosphere is quiet and conducive to working or relaxing, with soft chairs in a quiet corner and mellow, easy-listening music. The cafe is popular, especially in the afternoon, and prices are fair. The establishment is notable for its support of Bay Area refugees through its barista training program and commitment to promoting their well-being, with posters and graphics highlighting the refugee resettlement process. The baristas are friendly and welcoming, making it a great place for a midday pick-me-up, a quiet spot to think, or a relaxed hangout. The espresso is medium-dark roast with citrus, chocolate, and nutty undertones, while the macchiato leans more toward a cortado with well-foamed oat milk. This will always be one of the favorite coffee stops in Berkeley.
