About Café Tibet: A Vegan Restaurant

Café Tibet: A Vegan Restaurant in Berkeley is easily a favorite, serving authentic Tibetan food. The service is warm and great, with a super warm waitress. The food is as authentic as you can get; the dhaal tastes just like back home in South Asia, offering a homey experience. First-time Tibetan eaters were excited and absolutely recommend the broth with pulled noodles, veggies and tofu. The $9 Café Tibet Soup is good, if a touch under seasoned for an American. The $17 Momo Combo Dumplings let you try all three; all good with a mild preference for the denser potato filling. With the spicy sauce, they all work. Extremely healthy, the food is built around mild flavors, so use that chili sauce. The Amdo special with hand pulled noodle and spinach and mushroom momo, plus ting mo, tastes just as remembered. A huge WOW—the menu is amazing, with choices like a combo with tasty soup, salad, rice, potatoes, and kale. The fact that they have regional Tibetan food is a cool thing about Berkeley. Will definitely return.

We had a delicious lunch! The vegetable and potato momos were amazing so light and fresh that you don't leave feeling weighed down. We also loved the hand-pulled noodles; you can really taste how fresh they are. For the appetizer, we tried the stuffed eggplant wrapped in a garbanzo bean flour crust. It was really interesting because you couldn't even taste the eggplant! Overall, it's a great spot if you're looking for fresh, healthy food that nourishes you. Plus, the owners are...read full review
Everything we had here - the mixed vegetable soup, the sweet potato noodles and the turmeric ginger tea, were all wholesome and comforting. Service was great with a warm and inviting ambience
Amazing hearty food, and great hospitality from the owner!

I haven’t had Tibetan food before, so everything on the menu looked new & interesting to us.

The food itself was fantastic (a bit lacking in salt for my taste, but salt shakers and soy sauce are available). It gave me the impression of Chinese food made in a more Indian style (“felt more East Asian than Nepali food”).

After dinner, we enjoyed chatting with the owner, who shared his...read full review
