“Great spot for German fare in Berkeley. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and they sell a good bit of harder to find German food and beer as retail. The homemade Jagerschnitzel and spaetzle are on point, and the beer is excellent. I love their goulash as well. All seems to be made with love. Their breztels are a bit disappointing, however... small and not warm. They also have wierd hours, not open for lunch during the week, opening at 4pm and they close a bit early (8pm)... they should stay open longer, I'd come more often! One more negative: they're a bit pricey. Overall, however, I'm very glad they're here as they scratch my itch for great German food, and I definitely recommend Gaumenkitzel!“

“I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Speisekammer—they are what makes this place so special. From Hannah behind the scenes to Johnna, Kara, Liz, Krissy, Alex and too many other amazing staff members to name. We have come here for years and years and the low turnover tells us that the staff is taken care of and helps keep things consistent, familiar and inviting. Peter and Cindy may be passing the torch, but we are hopeful that with new ownership, we will be able to continue to enjoy this Alameda institution for many more years to come. Delicious food and drinks served by kind and engaging staff in a cozy, warm and charming German environment... what more can I ask for? Prost!!“

“I have been going to Brozeit Lokal for years. They have good food, very friendly staff and a lovely ambiance. I recently tried their fish and chips though and I was astounded by how amazing it was. The fish was crispy on the outside and perfectly soft and moist on the inside, like a funnel cake in fish form. I liked it so much that I took my husband there a couple of days later to try it, though this time we subbed the späetzle for the fires, which I HIGHLY recommend!! Five stars for sure.Vegetarian options: Their potato pancakes are delicious. They offer a field roast sausage as a vegetarian option.“

“Out with Hoboken Joe leaving our mark on a few watering holes, even had a few with Crazycat and his lil Pleasure Point Attagirl down at Goosebump Charlie's. Then Attagirl yells out she wants a big ol sausage!Well, that was our clue to Lickity Split outa there, so we headed straight to Schroeder's for a Bratwurst.And, I'll tell you what....it was Amazing! 5 Stars ☆☆☆☆☆“
