The char siu pork is so tender while the outside is perfectly crispy! It’s a great upleveling of a traditional dish. I’ll go without the black bean sauce next time. I’m excited to come back!

We tried chicken and pork. Both were soooo good. The taste is picante and the prices are affordable. We live in Walnut Creek but ready to come here again and again only for this place. The guys who work here also were so welcoming and polite. Hope you would have many many loyal customers!

Holy crap. This place is absolutely a 10 out of 10. PROPER BBQ! Reasonable prices. Honestly I'm shocked it didn't have a line out the door. I'm sure it will soon. We just stumbled upon it by chance and we will definitely be back!

Set in beautiful Rockridge--KaoKao Grill is a casual sit down restaurant. The menu is small but very delicious. I got the KaoKao Chicken and my husband ordered the KaoKao Char Siu. Both meats were so tender (they smoke in house) and portions were very generous. I especially enjoyed the chickpea curry side with my chicken. My husband liked the tartness of his pickled cucumbers and felt they helped balance the fattiness of his pork. We both ended up with leftovers for a yummy snack later.

Hands down one of the best Asian fusion food I had. Their attention to detail in preparing food is amazing!
This place is frikin delicious!!! I love their take on chinese Bbq. I had the Char siu over rice and i was so satisfied. It was like a slow smoked pork butt with a sweet sticky Char siu glaze. The meat was tender and had a good fat ratio to balance out the meet. It was melt in your mouth that is a new experience for char siu.It was a Big portion next to a huge scoop of Jasmine rice which was covered with some Black or fermented sauce which was also amazing. Then they hot cucumber pickles, thinly sliced a Nice mellow tang that cut through the sweet savory tender char siu.Cant wait to go try the chicken, this place just on their char siu alone is worth the visit!

I came to KaoKao for lunch. Delicious food!LOCATION:- Located on College in Elmwood- Free street parking SERVICE:- Order at the counter- There is self-serve water with cups on the first floor- There is seating on the main floor and up the stairs on the second floorFOOD:- KaoKao char siu: the char siu is tender, juicy, and meaty. YUM. I would come back to KaoKao solely for this dish. It comes with rice.- KaoKao chicken: tasty sauceCLEANLINESS:- There were flies on the second floor. Most likely from an open window and limited air flow on the second floor. :(

I dropped by Berkeley today to visit this cute and tasty small restaurant. The food was delicious and plenty as well. After speaking with the owner I found out that they smoke the pork for many hours and their process to get juicy and tender meat is very traditionally Chinese but with a western spin/fusion. I really love it and appreciate the amount of hard work that goes into the dish. To be honest I never really liked Char Siu but found my views changed after visiting this place. Highly recommended, service from Randy and Tony were excellent. I can't wait to come back again.

A truly divine meal. Singular taste, excellent value, attentive service. What more could you want?
I rarely come to write these reviews but this business 100% deserves a five star review.Pork is amazing and tastes a lot better than its very affordable price. Chicken is also 10/10.Service is always amazing.A true gem! It's the place I always take out of town visitors and considering how many amazing options we have for food in the east bay that means something!
This place rocks. Their pork blew my mind and the eggplant salad is very flavorful! Beautiful plating! Great service too!
