Passione Gelato Reviews
My experience at Passione Caffè in their gorgeous two-story, well-decorated café at 91 Shattuck Square was simply marvelous. The staff was friendly, quick, and accommodating and the food, drinks, and desserts were delicious! I highly recommend Passione Caffè to those looking for a quick and yummy lunch (or breakfast/brunch everyday), to snack and study, or for an authentic Italian coffee. Don’t miss out on the great happy hour/aperativo deals between 4-7PM! It almost goes...read full review

Passione Gelato, also known as Passione Emporio, is a restaurant that offers a peaceful and modern atmosphere for enjoying Italian cuisine. The menu is brief but varied, featuring notable dishes such as creamy pork-and-chicken tagliatelle, guanchiale ravioli, Jovan Pizza, and Blood Orange San Pellegrino. Diners have praised the pasta dishes with clams or mussels and the ricotta-spinach calzone, which is cooked in a brick oven. The caesar salad is crispy and served with anchovies and perfectly crisped garlic croutons. One visitor's calamari was described as delicious but the pieces were small and lost in the batter. The service at Passione Gelato is reported to be great, with fast and precise staff in a charming atmosphere. The Italian cuisine is authentic and delightful, with flavors that remind visitors of their summer trips in Roma and Firenze. This small place nestled in the Aquatic area of West Berkeley has a cozy neighborhood ambiance, making it easy to imagine being a regular for a meal or a scoop of gelato. Despite some mixed reviews, the restaurant remains a hidden gem, praised for its high-quality food and accommodating service. Recent visitors also noted that every night was busy, with excellent service from staff who handled large parties and special occasions with care. The food continues to impress, with dishes like heirloom tomato/burrata salad, gnocchi, and seafood pasta earning high marks. The calamari, though different from the picture, was enjoyed, and the pistachio ice crème pie received special praise. Overall, Passione Gelato offers a warm, authentic Italian experience, with fresh pasta, good wine, and a cozy atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.
