Employees like to man handle the public. Disgusting behavior
It's very popular, they don't take reservations so you have to wait for a table to become available.

A charming place where gentleness reigns: in the welcome, in the sweet treats offered to taste, in the decor of the place. Thank you.

Service was ok but when a restaurant wants to charge $1.50 for hot sauce, it’s a killer! Service is key in any business! Frittata was served cold :( Won’t go back and don’t recommend.

What great service and atmosphere. Creative dishes like the buttermilk sandwich. Possibly the best latte I have had. True care and precision for each drink and dish. If this were I my neighborhood I would eat there every week (or day!)
Vegetarian options: Vergitarian fritta was well composed .

Was visiting the area and stopped in for a quick bite and space to write. My food was delicious - I recommend the biscuit sandwiches and scones.

A cute spot with promising good eats and coffee. Their cappuccino was respectable, but it all goes down hill from there. Let me explain….
The gal at the register who took our order was less than friendly, maybe a bad day? It’s fine, really. But when the tally adds up you notice it all whether you’d like to or not. Their breakfast sandwich with soft boiled egg was not able to be heat up. Imagine that, two dense biscuits with a soft boiled semi liquid yellow… COLD. Okay, I can still manage. But, the fingers in the frittata is where it all ends. Yes, fingers and even palms in the frittata as it cooked. The pros to an open kitchen - see the magic and, regretfully, the curses that take place behind the scenes. In this case, it was a pure curse. Multiple times the lady went to and from the kitchen and patio, tending to the frittata with her bare hands and just moments later adjusting the heaters, umbrellas, and moving outside furniture around. Not once, not twice, but three times did we watch her walk past two sinks she could have washed her hands at only to poke those contaminated fingers into our soon to be breakfast. We couldn’t stomach it. The pro to this place as it stands now is: 1) there millet muffin and 2) there refund for the frittata. Although, when they were told why, they appeared less than concerned. Who knows what else is touched in between food and tending to a restaurant. My hope is that the restaurant owner sees this and finds a way to mitigate this. It seems quite obvious but either wash your hands each time you return to the kitchen or glove up when you are going to be touching the food. We mitigated or lack of breakfast by hopping over to a nearby cafe but really would have loved to love this place. Hopefully this lack of hygiene will be addressed. I don’t like reviewing badly, but this one couldn’t go unmentioned as I myself would want to be aware if I were eye balling this place. Happy and healthy eating!

Tried this place for breakfast, but it didn’t quite meet expectations. The frittata was overly salty, which made it hard to enjoy. The coffee options were quite limited, which was disappointing for a breakfast spot. The atmosphere was fine, but overall, I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

Great brunch spot with healthy fares
Oh my god this place is terrible. I truly do not understand the good reviews. I don’t normally not eat the food. I’ll suck it up and eat it but I could not. We got the sourdough waffles and they were so thin and tasted like nothing. We also got the biscuit sandwich which is COLD and the biscuit is probably the worst biscuit I have ever had. Do not waste your money.

We wanted a place to have lunch, catch up and enjoy our lunch. My friend recommended this lovely little spot, which is tucked next to a French bakery , another bakery, and artist’s studios in Berkeley. We had a lovely bowl of soup with a sandwich on focaccia bread! Mine was all vegetarian. I’d highly recommend this for lunch! There can be long lines, we arrived at 11:30 and had a short wait. Enjoy!

Standard fare is one of my favorite local breakfast spots. The buttermilk biscuit sandwich is available any day it's open, but the fruit-topped oatmeal exclusive to their Saturday brunch makes that morning the best to dine-in there.
The store does have indoor seating, but the covered street side patio has more spots for small groups to sit at, though it's often not heated, so bring extra jackets.
I recommend taking some of their extra sweets or pastries to go (today we picked up the apple spice cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting), though the best item to get in my opinion is their chai concentrate, which is really flavorful.
