No parking. Long lines. No seating. Food is good but not worth the hassle if you aren’t already there don’t bother to go as a destination.

Just stopped in for perfect coffee and tranquil outdoor seating. Next visit will be more food centric.

Yum! Second time here and it is even better!
There was a line but not a bad wait. Perfect for a Saturday treat after intense yoga class at The Alembic .

A frittata with so many layers of beets that the egg cannot hold it together but merely coats the outside. Ricotta mushroom toast with every flavor under the sun (carrots pickled with clove, orange, garlic, coriander and more, along with bark-flavored leeks). Medicinal-tasting dressings. And cooking styles that lean to mushy, wilted, pureed. They also appropriate names of dishes from world cuisines, while the end products are their own inventions. All of it makes for a perplexing lunch. And then there's the 'tudes on display.

On the plus side, fresh ingredients served at a pace just right for the leisure cla$$es.

Everything was absolutely amazing, from the friendly staff, cute interior and plenty of exterior sitting, delicious and artfully curated menu, very tasty ingredients and seasonal choices, I enjoyed everything down to the last bite!

This place used to be good. I was super disappointed my most recent visit here. It used to be expensive but the food and service were both exceptional. Now it’s expensive and mediocre

It’s sad to see one of the greats in the area lose their way like this. 20$ lunches special with two small pieces of pork a 1/2 cup of rice and four cooked eggplants. Delicious. Completely unacceptable for a 20$ price tag.

I love yummy, fresh, simple, balanced, expertly crafted, and delicious food here. It’s an excellent lunch place. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasing. All in all recommend.

I've been here many times and have always loved their 'bread.' Lately, the sandwiches have become a bit boring. I love the greens in the sandwiches, but the meat is so sparce now that I can barely taste it. And sometimes there is too much oil that when eating, my fingers become coated with the oil! From now on, I'll not order a sandwich, so I hope to see more chicken and fish dishes on the menu.

A Disconnected, Overpriced, and Disrespectful Dining Experience

My wife and I (we’re both seniors) had a very disappointing experience at Standard Fare in Emeryville, and we feel obligated to share it honestly.

When we arrived, the restaurant was half-empty with multiple open tables. But since we didn’t have a reservation, we were ushered into a narrow alcove between the kitchen and the exterior wall. Our backs faced both the kitchen and the dining area. We felt completely cut off, like we weren’t really part of the restaurant.

We were handed menus but told to order immediately at the register. They asked if we wanted to keep an open tab and tried to upsell us on drinks, which we declined. After that, we had no further service interaction. While there were servers, none were assigned to our table. The person who had denied us a table brought out our pork dish; someone else dropped off the others.

The food was small in portion, overpriced, and unsatisfying:
• The $17 “Snack Plate” had 5 olives, 3 see-through rye crisps, 3 tiny squares of cheddar, and a spoonful of peperonata. Barely enough for one person, let alone two.
• The two salads were mostly loose lettuce leaves. Gone in a few bites.
• The “braised pork shoulder” was one slice, about 3 inches wide and ¼ inch thick, mostly fat with barely any meat. It was completely bland; I had to add salt and pepper just to get any flavor.

We paid $75 for this meal. No drinks. No dessert. No comfort. No hospitality.

We left feeling unwelcome, hungry, and taken advantage of. Honestly, we would never serve guests, even acquaintances, a meal this meager. This restaurant may care about sourcing and presentation, but it completely lacks warmth, generosity, and value.

We won’t return, and we wouldn’t recommend it.

A lovely place for a seasonal lunch. Nice short daily menu. Good pastries too. A little expensive. If you want something on the cheaper side a bowl of soup with a side of pizza bianca is all you really need. But if they’re serving polenta you have to get that it’s so good!

This review is about sustainability! ☺️

Thank you for such incredible attention to detail, and such clear intention, when it comes to mitigating trash created by your customers. I was blown away by how lovely the space felt in general, but especially because there was not a single use plastic insight.

From the water refill station, to the real mugs and silverware, to the metal spoons for stirring in sugar. Everything had a proper place and purpose.

By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean, man fish, and it means a lot to me to be able to find and support businesses that are operating in relationship to the natural world, not in opposition to it.

So thank you, thank you! Lovely coffee, wonderful service, delicious sandwiches. And excellent support of our local and broader ecosystems.

I went for dinner with a friend; she had pasta with meatballs and I had a filet of trout. We shared a cake with Chantilly cream for dessert. My friend had a beer and I had a glass of wine (they were nice enough to let me try it before I decided). We also shared a salad. The whole thing was delicious, great fresh produce. The trout filet was fantastic; it came with potatoes and another vegetable and it was gone before I knew it. Honestly a great meal, I booked in advance to get the table so no waiting.

The food was low quality and way too expensive. But the main thing that bothered me was the owner telling a guy filming the restaurant that he was going to go to hell for it. As a Christian this deeply disturbed me and I won’t be coming back ever.
