I ordered a tuna poke bowl. It was tasty fish and tuna. Unfortunately it had no rice, not sure if they ran out or that’s standard for them but I’ve never heard of a sushi restaurant not putting any rice with a tuna poke bowl. I’ll come back but recommend that people mention rice if they want that in the dish.
Sushi California is a small, cozy restaurant that has been around for over 30 years. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is perfect. The food is delicious, especially the unagi with tobiko and the hamachi, which is very fresh. They offer a variety of rolls and nigiri with good quality fish and fresh vegetables, like the California roll made with real crab. Prices are budget-friendly and the service is excellent and attentive. While some cooked dishes may be bland, the sushi is the highlight here, with generous cuts and fresh portions. The restaurant might not look like much from the outside, but it's definitely worth a visit for tasty and affordable sushi. They also have a good selection of sake. The ambient music is pop, which doesn’t quite fit the Japanese setting, but the thoughtful service makes up for it.
