I love breakfast, so when I say that this is one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had, well, YOU SHOULD PAY ATTENTION.On a weekend where Big Bear was crowds crowds crowds, it was nice to walk in here around noon and not have to wait for a table.ServiceStaff here are friendly and attentive.AtmosphereLike a small town diner. Charming but no frills.FoodI really shortened the first two sections but I wanted to talk about the food. My girlfriend and I ordered coffee, which included unlimited refills, the French Toast Sandwich, and The Rail. The coffee was fine, but the food? Surprisingly great. The French Toast SandwichOne of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. The French toast was just sweet enough and so soft that I wish I could use it as a mattress topper. The sausage was plentiful and tasty, the eggs were fluffy, and the cheese was cheesy. The only thing that was just okay was the hash browns, which should have been crispier. The Rail“A gamble,” as my girlfriend described it. We didn’t know what to expect, but it sounded like a loco moco. It’s essentially an open-faced burger smothered in gravy, and it’s incredible. We got the home fries with The Rail and they were much better than the hash browns.PriceReasonable for the big portions.Recommend?Yes, we’ll be coming back the next time we’re in Big Bear
Hello, family and I went here for breakfast before heading back to LA after spending Super Bowl 2023 weekend in Big Bear, And what a disappointment. Restaurant was really cold inside not a cozy atmosphere, very loud and the worst of all food was brought COLD!!! I send back biscuits with gravy and for the second time gravy was not even warm. Everything we ordered was served cold. What a waste of time and money! Don’t recommend….
Heavily overpriced. Service was alright. Food was good. Definitely suggest burrito for breakfast to get most bang for your buck.
The avalanche breakfast is delicious. Big portions my bf and I share. I tried the Monte Cristo sandwich because of good reviews but I personally thought it was just ok. My bf got the French toast we both liked it but an average French toast breakfast was $20.Overall still worth going back to when we're in town. It gets very crowded. Nice staff but bathroom looked like it hadn't been dusted or thoroughly cleaned in a very long time.
The restaurant is as described. I liked it more than some of the LA restaurants, the food is tasty and plenty for each person. We tried the Roster rail and chorizo and eggs and the coffee and Fiesta omelets. Everything was great!I recommend it!!
To the car chase: Sunday morning breakfast in a resort town like Big Bear is a challenge. Labor challenges are another thing. To be honest, Grind and Grill wasn't our first choice, but it is still better than Denny's. The pancakes were huge! We should've ordered one and split it. My baby expressed dismay that her eggs were not cooked thoroughly, but we were not going to complain. The food was enough to give us energy for our hike. To the young server who waited on us: thank you for her hard work. I felt for her when she clutched her heart when I thanked her for her hard work. Being short-staffed makes waiting a pain. While we likely won't be returning, the cafe makes for a choice while in Big Bear Lake.
Me and my hubby came to Big Bear for our 8 year anniversary, it was our first time ever. I'm glad we came this place is absolutely Beautiful ? We came to Grind and Grill for breakfast, the wait was about 35 minutes, but I'll tell you what I'd wait an hour to eat here. The employees are out of this world, their customer service just blew our minds, we felt very welcomed and important, no matter how busy it was. Our server was Tiny absolutely Amazing and he made our very first experience Amazing. My hubby has the Avalanche extremely a lot of food, and I had the Rooster tail it was the chicken fried steak. Definitely coming back here next time we are here.
Wonderful Food~!White Institutional Environment tho = NO Ambiance!I heard there were new owners and the food quality is still the same (Hearty, Expensive (yet) very good!) but gol' dang owners! Put some log cabin wallpaper and some rustic decor around. Your place is good but >B O R I N G< to go in to it! C'mon! You're in the most wonderful mountains! Get with it on the mountain happy decor! Have some environmental pride!!! Geez~!!!! and PLEASE~!!!!
Stopped here for lunch and Grind & Grill did not disappoint! The service was impeccable and the food was fire! They ran out of an ingredient and apologized multiple times to us. The chef came out to personally apologize and also to check on how we enjoyed our food. The loaded mac n cheese was so yummy! The burger was huge and juicy. Fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Highly recommend you stop by to enjoy a meal here and support this business!
Great food! The French Toast breakfast sandwich was amazing. Also had biscuits and gravy and a breakfast burrito which were on point. Portions were a good size, easy to fill up and have food to take with you. Service was also good, wait staff very attentive. Chef even came out to make sure we enjoyed our meal.
Restaurantji Recommends
We have enjoyed breakfast here a couple times, while visiting Big Bear. Super friendly environment and large portions. Gets busy so you may have to wait but it's worth it.
An amazing place to stop in when hiking the PCT! The staff was incredibly friendly, and the head Chef - Robert - came out to personally ask us how the food was. A 10/10 experience and would recommend to anyone. The country gravy was amazing.
My first time visiting this restaurant and I have to say I was very impressed. The food is so tasty I had the Cali Scramble (avocado, cilantro artichoke bacon crumbled and cheese) sitting on top of hash browns served in a hot ceramic pan. The other dishes were French toast and eggs, chili cheese omelette which was also amazing! The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Do not go to this restaurant if you are expecting food cooked to order! Nothing that I ordered was hot. I asked the waiter about the toast that came with the meal as the website states. He said the menu has been changed. If so, change your website. Nothing about this experience would bring me back!
Had their homemade chili and onion rings for lunch. It was delicious and the staff was very inviting. The chef even comes out and checks on the tables.
