We had a family gathering at Solvang for the Spring break week. This was the best restaurant for dinner during our stay. We tried the grilled artichokes - really good; steamed mussels - pretty good. Yet the soup (clam chowder) was the best. Different people ordered different main dishes and we were all happy. But the best part of our dining experience was the service. The wait staff was great, including the bussers. They were very attentive and pleasant. In fact before we even met the wait staff we were impressed with service of the reception staff at the restaurant. There were 6 adults and 5 kids and we were expected to sit at 2 tables. But the front staff made an effort to seat us together and we really appreciated that. Thanks to the great service and good food, the 3 families had a remarkable time. We would for sure return in the future.

While riding my motorcycle through California, I smelled the smoke and saw the World's Best BBQ Steak sign and said I would have to test that theory. I finished my activities for today in Soledad and said today would be the day, so I doubled back the 170 miles to come partake. I called a friend who was 2 hours away and had her meet me there for dinner. They closed at 830 p.m., and our arrival time was 820, and I thought it would be an issue. The hostess not only assured me it wasn't a problem, but she even made me a reservation. We got there, and the place was packed, and the service and food was phenomenal. I had the surf and turf special, and my steak was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. My lobster was light and flaky and so delicious. I also had the key lime pie for dessert, and it was really good as well. I'm glad I came back to eat here and I will definitely be back when I'm California.

Our first stop in town and it was a great welcome! Service was excellent! The food was amazing. Our waitress Autumn was so friendly and helpful! We arrived 30 mins before closing and rather than turning us away they took us in and took great care of us. The service Autumn gave us was unmatched! Grateful to have stopped at this gem!

I've eaten at the top steak places and the Hitching Post beats all of them. They use an oak grill and their own seasoning on the steak to give it the best flavor. The grilled artichoke is a solid appetizer. Outstanding service. The place never disappoints.

We recently had a meal at the Hitching Post II. This was our third visit when traveling up the coast. In fact, we deliberately stay in the area, so we can treat ourselves to dinner at the restaurant. Being a vegetarian, it is ironic that one of my favorite restaurants is the Hitching Post. I usually order the grilled artichoke, salad and garlic bread. The artichoke was very small even though they grow beautiful, large artichokes just up the road. The bread was fresh and slathered with melted butter but there was no hint of garlic at all. We liked the smoky corn chowder so much we ordered a bowl to take with us. Apparently, the rib eye was also fine. Service was efficient but very rushed. The biggest disappointment was the Manhattan cocktails. Arturo, the usual bartender, makes a great cocktail. It is so good, I called him once and asked him to share the recipe, since we live far away and only visit the restaurant once a year. Unfortunately, he was not at the bar when we got there although we were told he was working that day. The cocktails were obviously watered down to the point that the color was a pale pink. I guess two out of three visits isn't bad but we were very disappointed with this latest meal and hope it was just a bad day and not the new norm.
My new favorite place I wish I got a photo of my food. It was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had and it was a sirloin lol it was so delicious and tasty. Oh my God I cannot wait to go back here and all the people of the bar were so fun and interesting locals visitors. The bartender was awesome I love love this place and cannot wait to go back to the Santa Ynez Valley just to eat here.

So good! Came on the recommendation of our Zipline instructors. Got the pulled pork tacos (they give you 4 tacos!), burger, and a glass of wine. So delicious. I liked the tacos by themselves but the salsa and sauce that came with my tacos really elevated the food. Wish they bottled up the sauce and sold it. The fries were excellent.

While waiting for the table we decided to sit at the bar. Met a fun couple from Oklahoma. So we decided to dine at the bar with the Oklahoma couple. We then also got to meet Art one of the bar servers. Happy Birthday Art, he was great server attentive and we had a fun experience as always. We love the Hitching Post ❤️❤️❤️

We have not been in many years. But it is still the same amazing food. They no longer have the shrimp cocktail appetizer which I missed but the food was great. I had the Lobster tail and hubby had the ribs. Yum!! Our waitress went above and beyond Jennifer is wonderful!!
