Lotus and Light is a trendy restaurant with great service and delicious, light food that won't leave you feeling sluggish. The pork banh mi is cooked to perfection, while the chicken fried rice is just okay. The chicken vermicelli was disappointing, as it was supposed to be beef and lacked an egg roll. The restaurant has a clean, IKEA-like design, but lacks the soul of more authentic Vietnamese eateries. However, on a cold spring night, the pho was a standout dish. The carefully simmered broth was well-seasoned and almost perfect, just needing a squeeze of lime and some jalapeños. The steak pho could have had thinner slices of meat, while the chicken pho had a bit too much chicken breast. Despite the minor complaints, the bowls were finished completely, a rare occurrence even at the best pho places. The restaurant has a consistent menu of pho, bun, spring rolls, and teas, and the service, even during busy times, is kind and accommodating. Lotus and Light may have its ups and downs, but their pho is a comforting and satisfying option for all seasons.
