This place has a perfect blend of impeccable service, delicious food and adorable ambiance. We were greeted by a woman a few minutes before our reservation time with the friendliest and warmest smile. The extensive menu took me awhile to decide but thanks to Mina, our server, we ended up with the crab cakes for the appetizer. What a treat! They came with a corn relish and red drops ..a very small pepper from Lebanon which added just the perfect amount of crunch and tanginess. The halibut I had was perfectly cooked and the clam chowder/crab louie my husband had looked quite tasty. I'm not sure what stood out to me more - Mina's attention to his perfectly timed service, or the quality of our dinner. Either way, this is a stop we will make again.
One of our very favorite places in Carmel! we love the fresh fish dishes (all are great!) The Frutti do Mare is my favorite!!! A must go to when you visit Carmel!
I had the Sand Dabs and the fish was good. The mashed potatoes were cold and tasted like they were Instant potatoes. The vegetables were good but also cold. My husband had the Halibut, again the same story, fish was good sides were cold. They start with a lovely caviar and champagne taster which was nice and their bread and oil very tasty. The server was very good and you got a lot of attention.
The food overall was outstanding, but the service was ok at best. The waiters rarely checked on us, and the entire meal took over an hour despite us only ordering two appetizers, a soup, and two main dishes. We even needed to send the soup back because it came to us lukewarm. There was also someone who seemed like management who was sitting and chatting with her friends at a table for most of our visit.
Today we ordered Dungeness crab salad and open faced lobster sandwich with side salad instead of fries and enjoyed our meal. The servers are always friendly and efficient. Catch is one of our favorite places to eat at while visiting Carmel by the sea, but the music is awful! it does not fit the place. It sounds like we're at a disco bar with loud pounding obnoxious electronic music, certainly not what one would expect in an expensive restaurant where we would prefer to relax and enjoy our food. Other than that it really is a lovely place.
Beautiful interior. Our fish tacos were excellent! For once a restaurant that has enough wait staff, all of whom seemed interested in ensuring you had a great experience.
We had a wonderful time at Catch...from the ment we walked in, the ambience was calming and elegant. Florencio seated and waited on us. He was especially friendly and welcoming. My wife had the halibut which was outstanding. I had the Sandra's was were also vey good...this is definitely our new favorite in Carmel and highly recommended!
OMGosh this place was an experience, we left on cloud nine if that can even happen from a restaurant, from the minute we walked in, the ambiance, the seating, the service!!!!! The food!!! The Service!!!! Did I say that already?
Shout outs to The hostess Miss Brazil, and to Mina our waiter, also his cousin, they knocked it out of the park!
I had the Blackened Salmon and my Husband had the Surf and Turf, mine was perfection, hubby's was almost perfection, turf was a tad tough but he ate it all. This trip to Carmel was planned at the last minute, we live 3 hours south, we were actually planning on a different place but they were not yet open so we ended up at Catch so glad we did, it was literally an experience we will not soon forget! And the guitar player, wow what a voice, a true crooner, so soft, easier than mariachis. Thanks so much guys, yes you too chef/cook. We will be back. 6 stars guys!

Live music (guitar) was lovely. The food was fresh and delicious with generous portions (crab Louie salad, the grilled scallops and shrimp salad, the baklava and the bread basket). Service was prompt and friendly. Prices fair. Our favorite meal after 3 days in Carmel by the sea. We can’t wait to come back!

The food was alright but the servers were off-putting. They were either nonchalant or somewhat rude. I tried to help one of them set an appetizer on our table and he got frustrated at me and curtly told me to stop, which I was taken aback by. There was a man who would randomly play a song on his guitar every 20 minutes or so. He would get rather up close to our table, which was a little uncomfortable.
The food was just mediocre. The pasta was extremely bland, and the pizza was ok but nothing to come back for.
I can confirm like other patrons that there was plenty of seating on a Friday evening, which probably isn't the best sign considering other restaurants on the block are packed.
Considering we paid $50+ per person, this place definitely wasn't worth it. The staff weren't very welcoming and the food was mediocre. Unless you're desperate for a bite to eat, I'd recommend you stay away.

I usually do not like fish, and this resultant made me love fish. The best seafood I had by far.

Disgustingly rude. I popped in after taking my teen younger brother out for Halloween, just looking for some appetizers as we had already eaten dinner. Once I made my intentions clear the waitstaff became SUPER snippy with me, asking things like “but are you sure you can afford that?” when I ordered, and humming and hahing about my decisions. I suppose the fact that we were looking for something small mixed with the Halloween costumes must’ve convinced them we were poor or something and therefore would take mistreatment. I did not stay to order anything, it was made clear to me that we were not welcome and I didn’t want my brother to think that was acceptable treatment from anyone. I’m just glad they showed their true colors before I committed to spending anything there!

Service was fine, but our meal was not. We had the surf and turf. The meat from the lobster was the size of my little finger. The filet mignon was not cooked as ordered. The vegetables were barely warm. All and all, a very disappointing meal for $49.95.
We will not be returning.
