We are here before and I forgot why I disliked it so much. The serviceeeeee, omg awful. Food was good today I have no complaints about that, but the service makes me not want to come back. It was the same as before. Sever walks away while you’re still talking, brings out things 1 at a time so your waiting for your sides with your meal, drops off the food and walks away without saying anything at all, like hello? They look so damn bothered when asking them for something. Like it’s not their job. Makes us not enjoy our food cause we feel like a burden. On top of that it’s a slow day! Should be no reason for this. these servers need to be trained on some basic costumer service. Won’t be coming back.

Extra long wait on weekends, worth the wait.
True mexican cuisine!
OMG, great food, great service and great experience. Food galore. Kept bringing food for the Sunday buffet time. The champagne was excellent. Drove a distance to get to this place. It was worth it. The front two girls were awesome. The service gentlemen were great. Kept filling up the champagne flutes. Definitely, coming back. Very happy place. Thank you for a great service.

This is my second visit to this establishment. The bad service is consistent for both visits. First visit was a pretty big party so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and didn’t write a review or completely write the place off. I decided to give it another try with a group of friends that had never been before since the food was good the last time and it was only a party of 7 this go round. It was 98 degrees out so we decided to sit inside, thinking we would escape the heat and enjoy our meal and drinks - the joke was on us!!! Inside the restaurant was unbearable. As soon as we sat down you can feel the heat. I asked multiple times of the air can be lowered a bit and was told that it was just lowered so give it sometime to kick in, so we did. 45 min later it felt like someone turned up the heat. I honestly thought it was a ploy to get people in and out since it was bottomless mimosas. Well, it’s “bottomless”, if you can get a server to come back and fill your glass - 2 hours and we got one glass each. Not one of us enjoyed our meal since we couldn’t get past the heat. Which was disappointing because the food is good. We showed up 15 min early to our reservation, understanding buffet times can be out of everyone’s control but 30min after our reservation time was disappointing. We were sat at a table with no silverware. We had to ask for our silverware multiple times and had to sit and wait for it, with our plates in front of us. We asked for drinks and the really helpful man was not the nicest but I don’t blame him, I was sitting doing nothing and was dying from the heat, I could imagine how irritable he was having to run all over. I felt really bad for him. We asked for our check twice, after waiting 20min I finally got up, walked to the waiter and asked him for it at the station. Three of us paid with cards so that was easy. One paid with cash and needed change. I had to once again, after 10min of waiting, walk over and get the change myself. We all just wanted to get out of that furnace.
This place is understaffed. That was the same observation from the bigger party experiance as well. We were having to go to the bar ourselves to get our drinks. Same issue with the utensils and delay on anything you asked for. The weather was cooler so being outside was nice, if I had to sit inside and knew how hot it was. I wouldn’t have chosen this place for my friends.
Now that I’ve given it a second chance and see that this establishment is not looking to get better -I’ve read other reviews with the same complaint, I will not be recommending it to anyone. As a matter of fact, if you are reading this, trust me!! Go elsewhere. Elvira’s is right down the street and it’s always comfortable there.
I’m giving this review a 2 because the food is good. The people in the kitchen cook with heart and I respect that. It’s too bad the service doesn’t match the food.

Best drinks ask for Roger he best bar tender
Absolutely amazing. Eric and Jose were phenomenal bar tenders/servers. The lunch buffet is incredible. Pozole, menudo, ceviche, mole! Ton of stuff you'd never think of for a lunch buffet, let alone a Sunday brunch. For $17 this is probably the best value in all of claremont, let alone IE. Not to mention $5 margaritas with the buffet and a killer cocktail list as well. Huge mezcal selection. Please come and check these guys out. One of the hidden gems in claremont.

Completely disorganized bar tender has no idea how to make or serve drinks in an efficient way nor how to deliver them to your table at the same time. Food is dry and lukewarm. Make sure to ask for your check at least 30 minutes before you want to leave. Do not assume you will enter the space to escape the heat because they are super stingy with the air conditioning.

I rate if need improvement or great place to eat. This restaurant was under a different name a few years ago called Casa Moreno and had pretty bad food , I just visited this restaurant again under Casa Maguey giving it a 2nd chance after several years of not walking into this restaurant and my rating is 1 out of 5 stars some of the buffet food was left overs and c’on tamales had beef jerky ! Red enchiladas were hard like been reheated , Pozole was very spicy with hardly no meat just homely, no flavor ! Fruit was not ready to eat with no flavor and very hard to eat , ice water was tap water ! VG’s not cooked super hard and Deserts nothing to enjoy after a poor meal ! I Tried the mini churros and was not able to eat super hard ! So I did not had a second trip to the buffet food was just not good . I can go on but this is just a little introduction of this restaurant almost $100.00 for 2 people with Tap ice water ! Good luck for anyone trying this buffet .
