“What a great find! Chef John recently catered our 80-person wedding - providing appetizers, main courses (buffet style w/ a carving station), and our dessert (a cake / croquembouche combo). Chef John is a seasoned pro and made choosing our menu a breeze. Everything was absolutely delicious, and our guests gave us tons of compliments on the overall experience. Our dessert was the ultimate show stopper - a combination of a traditional American wedding cake and a French pièce montée (croquembouche). We're so fortunate to have found Chef John and had the opportunity to work with him to make this day special. The price was also outstanding given what a traditional catering company would charge, whereas our food was far more elevated and tasted anything like a wedding buffet. “Did I just land in Mumbai? Basanti is as real as it gets. My local hangout and could eat here everyday - sometimes hitting this place up 3-4x per week (I’m not the only one - the number of Uber Eats guys who show up at dinner time is insane and at times, I’m the odd one out in a restaurant full of Mubaians). This place holds it own in a smaller community with no shortage of restaurants and located on the other side of the railroad tracks, literally, where many tourists venture/land given the train station and location of Mission SanJuan. Everything cooked to order (love that I can hang with the locals - authentic staff - and handle the same, if not more spice then they especially for a white chick from the Midwest) including no spice for little people, like my twin grandkids who devour the buttered naan and tandoori chick. The owner, first generation (I think) and the nicest most humble guy (he recognized me at another San Juan hangout then bought my glass of wine) just wants you to have the most pleasurable dining experience enjoying cuisine he’s passionate about. My favs: buttered naan, roasted beet salad, lentil soup, and chicken korma, extra spice. The world’s a big place so get out there…or at least venture to the other side of the train tracks or even stay home (#ubereats) and reap the same benefits of good food and good company!“

“We did Door dash for pick up. I personally didn't care for the spicy sauce on the spicy green beans so if I order them again I'd get just the green beans, BUT that's a personal preference. The turkey pot pie was good especially because it was dairy free and I don't usually get to have dairy free pot pie. My family was impressed with the mashed potatoes. If you order a Bite Box it is a single side and a main. The Single Box requires three sides, which is a lot even too much food for lunch or a light dinner. (We were ordering online on DoorDash for the first time so we were confused about how to order just one side and one main but we eventually figured it out.) It was a good healthy lunch and I appreciated that they do dairy free food quickly. “So, just an amazing business! I met Greg the owner at the nearby pitching lesson warehouse in Lake Forest. The pizzas are amazing, Great White and Spicy Pepperoni are my faves! The salads are super fresh. The service is above and beyond. I ordered empanadas from Greg and he accidentally forgot the chimichurri sauce. He drove the sauce and extra empanadas to my house personally.!That is above and beyond to wow the customer! I'm going to keep supporting this business. That's just over the top customer service.
