the BEST restaurant for Ethiopian food in all of LA County, no contest. my friend and I drive from Pasadena to Covina just for this spot! I'm Eritrean, grew up eating this food every day and eating here reminds me of home. The food is 100/10 from the perfect blend of spices, deep well-developed flavors, generous portions, delicious injera. Definitely get a combo platter, pretty much can't miss with anything on the menu. The tej (honey wine) is also so sweet and delicious, we always get a bottle to take home.Love the vibe of this spot, very much a family owned and operated business which makes me even happier to support them. The folks who work here are so friendly and kind, just a great dining experience overall

If you love unique foods and dining experiences, we highly recommend GS Cafe and Ethiopian Cuisine. We had the beef and veggie platter. In retrospect, this was a lot of food for just the two of us, but we were far from disappointed and left extremely satisfied. The Tej (honey wine) is also a must have drink that pairs nicely with the savory flavors of beef key wot. The staff also deserve a shout-out for being prompt and attentive while managing a busy environment. 10/10.

The BEST!! I love to come here with my family. We get the veggie platter, I always get a spiced tea, and my partner gets a coffee. It is always delicious and the hospitality is great. They are usually very busy which is just a testament to how good they are. 10/10.Vegetarian options: Vegan options

The food and service are first class. You would be happy with the same meal in a fancy restaurant. But this is just a simple little neighborhood cafe in a strip mall. Prices are very reasonable. My Ethiopian friends tell me this is the best Ethiopian restaurant in the area. It’s the only one I’ve ever been to, but the experience was delightful.

This is the right place for everyone who wants to venture into Ethiopian food. Chef kisses! We ordered the special house combo. Everything was well seasoned, each dish compliments the other. The bread was served fresh,, soft and spongy, with the right texture for you to scoop the food and into your mouth. Yes! You use your own finger as the main utensils. Just wash your hands well and enjoy the food. The tea were delish as well as the layers of smoothie, if you are into Moscato you might as well try their Honey wine. Coffee on the woody bitter side. There is a wait of about 30 to 45 minutes during lunch and dinner time, but it was worthwhile. It was so delish I ordered two more order to go and share it with my kids at home. They approve it too.

We're from out of town and, loving Ethiopian food yet unable to find it in our area, we read reviews and decided to meet our friends at GS...SO glad we did! The atmosphere is warm and authentic from the moment you walk in. The young man who took our order and waited on us could not have been more delightful and the food was to die for! It was so fresh, flavorful (we had the 8 entree vegetarian combo for 2) and beyond delicious! At other Ethiopian restaurants we've found that many of the options for vegetarians/vegans taste similar to one another and/or be a bit bland...not GS's food! Each item was rich with flavor that tasted just like Ethiopian food should taste...UNIQUELY DELICIOUS! To top it off, their beer was great as was their hot tea, all made better by the way the staff (Mom cooking, son serving) made us feel...as if we dropped into their home in Ethiopia for the best meal ever! We HIGHLY recommend GS Cafe and Ethiopian Cuisine!

Fast, friendly, and great food. The beef veggie platter is definitely the way to go. Perfect for 2 people. Each of the different vegetables are prepared differently and they are all great. Usually with a sample platter with different foods I’ll be like (to whoever I’m with) “oh, I’ll have these and you can have those” nah. With this platter I want all of them. They are all winners.
