I love Uncle Tetsu’s cheesecakes — every flavor I’ve tried is delicious! I got the small ones in different flavors, and honestly, they’re all worth trying. Uncle Tetsu, located inside Serramonte in Daly City, is known for its delicious burnt Basque cheesecake and other Japanese desserts. The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, with friendly staff who often remind customers about deals and promotions, making treats more affordable. The desserts are not overly sweet, with subtle flavors that pair well with hot tea or coffee. Popular choices include their original cake, chocolate, ube, and coffee flavors, as well as black sesame and ube tarts that are perfect for sharing. Madeleines with a Japanese twist are also a favorite, being more cake-like and less sweet than typical madeleines. The restaurant also features special items like the Valentine’s Red Velvet Cheesecake, which comes with a free heart-shaped chocolate chip cookie, based on availability. Though there is no seating inside, customers can enjoy their treats at the food court nearby. Many visitors appreciate the light, fluffy texture of the Japanese cheesecake, which is less sweet and less creamy than American cheesecake, providing a delightful new experience for those trying it for the first time. Overall, Uncle Tetsu is a great spot for anyone seeking quality Japanese desserts in a friendly setting.
