We ran into this place while strolling on Main Street. It's a bit off the beaten path but we saw a sandwich style board pointing us to the bakery so we made our way across the parking lot. It was a pretty small space they have but people definitely knew about this place, it was busy inside! They've got a wide variety of baked goods, a lot of tropical/Filipino baked goods. We got their cupcake sampler and a guava croissant. All were tasty, my wife really enjoyed the ube cupcake! I've heard they are moving to Maryland, that's a big loss for Pleasanton! I hope that someone will be able to continue the operation and keep Bunso open!

Glad I found this place before they close down. June 3rd will be their last day before moving to Maryland. I frequented downtown Pleasanton for 30 years and somehow never knew there was a tiny bakery tucked behind a parking lot. To see that a shop in tiny o' Pleasanton ranked #8 in Top Asian-Owned Bakeries in the US this year? I had to see what's up!TLDR; good food, authentic Filipino pasteries. Don't expect much of anything else. Ordering - I wanted to know what I want before I got there. Sadly as someone not well-versed in Filipino foods, I was overwhelmed by the lack of description presented on Yelp and on their website. I also couldn't pre-order because the earliest would be 5-6 days out. This place only opens 3 days a week and on Thu/Fri, only between 3-6pm. That means you either preorder, or you'll have to fight for the leftovers. The shop - So I went at exactly 3pm, as did many others. It was frustratingly taking about 10 mins per person because people order in bulk and need an explanation of each item, don't know what they want so they gotta call everyone and their mothers, or the shop owners themselves took a sweet time preparing the...prepared items? It was also likely busy because everyone knows this is the last week. Again, no labels, no menu. I didn't want to be the person asks what everything is, but I had to. Tiny shop. Not a lot of air. Can't fit more than 2 people at once.Food - aside from a few tarts and cookies, they only come in bulk. I personally don't like this because I don't have a family of 8 to feed. Flavors come in ube, pandan, and some caramel. I wish I could tell you what I got, but I can't because there were no labels. I wish I could come back more, but I can't eat this many in my own!To try: Ask for their most popular item, which is basically a filled donut with coconut flakes on top! I don't have a personal favorite. They're all good and not too sweet. Conclusion: it's good, not in a way that makes me say "yes this is one of the best in the US" but I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something special.

Saw this place making the top 10 bakeries list, and I knew I had to stop by and try their goodies! They def lived up to my expectations. I'm still dreaming about their ube malasadas as I'm typing this rn. The donut is soft and pillowy, the ube cream filling was to die for!!! I've had ube malasadas from different bakeries and this is the best I've tried in the bayarea. I also enjoyed their Nutella mini croissants with a cup of hot coffee. Prices are fair. We got a bunch of goodies for about $21.

Great Filipino bakery located in the Pleasanton downtown area. Hidden in the back but definitely worth the visit and the bakery has so much pastry to choose from and most of the bread and dessert is so great and yummy. The owner is nice too. Worth to try and visit but closed on Sundays.

I just went to my local farmers market in Fremont and met the nicest two ladies. I purchased a spinach artichoke puff from them. It is amazing.

Ube muffins and not sure the other flavor ($8 for 4 muffins) and ube senorita breads ($3 for 2) super good ,fairly priced and not too sweet! I loved the owner, despite having a long line and being so busy he was still so sweet and polite. Wish he was in San Jose I will be back for more next time I'm in the area or attempting to try to bake these myself but know I probably can't get it as good as him ha . Shop was small and quaint.

Picked up some of these gems today after lunch at my favorite Filipino bakery in the Tri-Valley! These are going down quick in our house. A bite of the cheese then from the ube is the move Thanks Bunso fam!

Ensaymada: A Filipino style brioche topped with softened butter, sugar and grated cheese. I'm intrigued! My first time trying an ensaymada. I had an ube and caramel and as I would have guessed, it had the sweet/salty thing going on in a mini bun. I'm a fan!The ube crinkle cookies were bomb too! Crispy and not too sweet.Yelp says they're closed on Sundays, but if they don't sell out at the local farmers market that morning, they"ll open the storefront and sell it that afternoon.

This is a tiny establishment offering a nice variety of Filipino baked goods. There wasn't much room inside due to the set up. I really enjoyed the ube cheese tarts the most. The man who helped me was very friendly and helpful in recommending things to try. There were other people who walked in and walked out because it wasn't what they were expecting. Apparently that happens often however it's their loss because most of the goodies here are delightful. The only thing I didn't care for was the flan because the texture was a little more rubbery and wasn't to my preference.

Small bakery. Good Filipino breads and pastries.

Stopped by here on a whim this past weekend with my girlfriend to grab an afternoon snack on our way to do some shopping in Pleasanton. The shop itself is hidden a little bit past a parking lot in downtown pleasanton and it is quaint. With that said, there's plenty of selections of snacks and goodies to go and choose from. This time, my girlfriend and I got a ube and pandan crinkle cookies and a box of Ensaymadas (we got a variety pack with original, ube filled, and caramel filled). The crinkle cookies were the perfect level of sweetness and the Ensaymadas were super good. For both items, my favorite flavor was ube (although the caramel Ensaymada was a close second)All in all, I was very pleasantly surprised by this spot and I'm really happy I was able to pop in. Would definitely stop by here again.

Sooo happy Rina wasn't sold out of all the goodies we wanted to try. We were lucky enough to come the last hour before closing and grabbed everything we could get! Our favorite was obviously the popular ensaymada balls. I bought so much to take home and share with my mom and her bestie that just got back from the PI and they also loved it! We also tried the pastries with guava, crinkle cookies, and the ube tarts which also hit the spot!

My husband and I were craving something sweet after lunch and found this little gem!! Bunso is a Filipino bakery located in downtown Pleasanton. The storefront is not big but they carry a diverse selection of delicious treats. Since we have never really had Filipino baked goods, the owner was extremely helpful in explaining to us what everything was and providing recommendations. She even gave us samples of the yema and ube ensaymada (little brioche breads with sweet filling) while we were debating what to get.We ended up buying the ensaymadas and ube cheese tart. We can't wait to return to support this local business and try other items they offer (mochi bites, flan cupcake, etc.) next time!
