For over 50 years now, Gerry has also been famous for his great home made food, also for being kind to the underprivileged and homeless, hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, which draw 500 to 600 guests every year. It’s always been free to.anyone who can’t afford it or just a $3.00 voluntary contribution. “Fun little spot a block from Fletcher's Cove Beach. The parking lot between the bar and the beach is open to the public on nights and weekends, there were several spots available. The bar room is cute and small with nice bar top booths lining the walls. Of course they have golden tee, sorry for the pun. Haven't been in years, it has changed a lot. Used to be called the Surf and Saddle and it had more of a country theme. It was a little rougher, where it has a cigar bar feel now.
The bartender was friendly, good pour, and it was pretty lively with people coming and going and a dog sitting at the bar ?“

“This is a staple in Carlsbad and it seems the people who have problems are expecting something different than what Golden Tee is or are a high maintenance problem themselves. This is a dive bar and it’s meant to be a dive bar. If you want something else, go to the village or a hotel bar. The bartenders here work incredibly hard, and deal with problematic people in a swift but courteous manner. The drinks are always poured correctly, the tab is always correct. They’re professional and I have never felt unsafe here even at night stopping in by myself. Both male employees with long hair and the bald Mexican guy have always been fantastic and take care of business. Recommend this place if you’re in a no frills, calm mood just looking to be comfortable. Great job, guys!“
