“A San Diego landmark. Used to frequent this classic dive bar and whiskey emporium up until about 10 years ago when I moved. They’ve spent some money and updated it and it’s all for the better. Ashley helped me and was a pleasure. It’s a true gem. A must hit spot and close to parking and the airport.“

“Absolutely outstanding experience at The Tower Bar! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, stylish, and inviting. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure everything was perfect throughout the visit. The drinks were expertly crafted—balanced, creative, and beautifully presented. The food was just as impressive, with every dish full of flavor and clearly made with care.

“New owners who have revamped the place for the better. More lighting, better TV's and sound system. Also, great place to hang on a hot day because of the AC. Great happy hour specials and nice friendly bartenders. The have free food during special events like UFC and Boxing fights. They occasionally have food vendors mostly tacos on certain days. Don't sleep on this place!“

“Went in on a Friday night with a couple friends and had a pretty good time. The place had a relaxed vibe, not too loud, and it was easy to actually have a conversation. Bartender was friendly and gave a few suggestions when we couldn't decide what to order. Drinks came out quick and tasted great. The crowd was mixed and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Prices were fair for the area too. Nothing overly fancy, just a solid neighborhood bar where you can kick back for a few hours. I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area again.“

An intimate and friendly atmosphere. This is a gay bar and welcoming to respectful non-gay clientele as well.“

“The woman, Kristie I think is her name, that runs this bar is so amazingly friendly and wonderful to be around I love going there partially because of her, but they also have two pool tables and a dart board which is the reason I go. It's an amazing diverse mix of people in the middle of Hillcrest. It's not all gay or all straight. Don't pass this bar up it's been around for a long time and it's a great place to go.“

“I stopped by The Loft from Friday into Saturday, and I had an amazing time. The atmosphere is awesome, and the vibe is exactly what I was looking for. I met some great people, which made the night even better. A special shout-out to the bartender for the excellent service and positive attitude. Huge respect to him! I'll definitely be coming back.“

“Lived in San Diego for decades. Rarely went out but always passed Chicos. Finally went there. Just found a neighborhood watering hole. Met a nice regular, a chef from the Grant. Bartender was great. Using the website, he made the unique frappe I asked for. Next it was beer for me. The selection was good and prices more than competitive. There are several pool tables and the Padre game was on the biggest screen. We'll be going back.“

I passed by here while getting my cars windows tinted and I would never regret the comfy environment they introduced me in.Served the special they had on the board and beers I was happy with entering and leaving.The taco shop next door served me rolled tacos fast so If your hungry that’s ++Chill served liquor is available. Games like Pool and table tennis or ping pong are at the ready with regulars. A lot of hugs I notice.Small but cozy with food on the side ~Zen“

“I recommend however I feel that guests must temper their expectations for the emo nite experience. The indoor bar is over packed and the outdoor patio does not have sufficient sound. The bartenders were attentive and pleasant. The bathroom had toilet paper and soap.“

“Stopped in on a Thursday night while visiting from out of town. It was pretty quiet with only a couple other people there, but the bartender was incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. We had a drink and then headed to another spot. I would definitely recommend going on a busier night for more energy, but overall a welcoming vibe.“

“Definitely not a place that gets going all night like a club would but a very cool and quaint spot to grab a drink with a group friends. Pool tables and a variety of drinks on tap. Bartenders are receptive as well. Juke Box is a plus to play music of one’s choice.It’s honestly kind of it’s own place in the middle of everything, but wouldn’t mind staying here for a night and drink the night away. The Elwood is nearby too.“
