I've been coming to Raul's since I lived down the street from them as a child, I've moved away since then, but I make it a point to have lunch here whenever I find myself near Encinitas.Their beef taquitos with cheese and guacamole are my ultimate comfort food and taste the same as they did over 20 years ago - delicious and crispy.

Better prices than most as well.Edit: Boy have things changed since my last review 5 years ago:My fiancé and I recently ordered takeout from here, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. I ordered the flautas and she ordered the chimichanga, both dishes we'd enjoyed on previous visits, but this time, they were soggy and lacked their usual crispness. My fiancé was particularly disappointed with her chimichanga, which was inedible due to the sogginess. Normally we would let this sort of thing slide if it was just one of us with bad food, but both of us had bad food.I called them to express our disappointment and inquire about a possible refund. However, the person who answered the phone, who also happened to take our order, was dismissive and accusatory. He claimed I was trying to get free food, which was unprofessional and upsetting. He basically said he thought I might call back and get free food, all because I made an offhand comment about the price when we were placing the order. No, actually I was not calling because of the price. I agreed to pay for it at the time, and that was my choice to live with. I thought maybe he would be receptive to take my complaint so that they could maybe not make the same mistake in the future. Unfortunately all I got were accusations. He did eventually refund my money, but after leaving a really bad taste of my mouth.Given the quality of the food and the unpleasant interaction, we're hesitant to return in the future. While we've had positive experiences in the past, this recent incident left a real negative impression.

The little shack is great! New to the area and tried all the tacos up and down the block but something here just screams they love what they do! Flavor is Top Tier, and prices are great. Keep it simple and show them love cause they are amazing for the community ?

Stopped here for lunch. Wow this place is AMAZING. Some of the best Mexican food I have ever had from this little shack. You go up to the counter and order and they hand you a pager. I ordered the beef Taquito burrito. My husband ordered the fish tacos and a carnitas crispy taco. All of the food was amazing. I will be thinking about the Taquito burrito for a long time. It was delicious with cheese and guacamole inside it. My husband loved his food too. The fish tacos were so good. If you are looking for the good Mexican food you hear about San Diego having, Raul's is where you need to go. And the price is not bad at all! I honestly don't know how places like chipotle etc stay in business out here when you have amazing Mexican places like this for the same price. 5 stars
We love this taco shop! We always eat here when we're in the area. The food is just delicious. The portions are huge. You won't regret eating here.

My husband and I are new to CA, I am a home care nurse and my client introduced me to Rauls. I was very hesitant because I had tried many Mexican restaurants and they were to spicy. I was happy and very pleased when we went to Rauls, the kindness of the staff was very helpful. I work near and visit often until yesterday. It hurts me to know that Rauls would hire such a racist manager., that has no customer service skills at all. Never have I been treated with such rudeness. Our food was not what we had asked for and the manager called my 76 year old client a lier. I told the male manager that I heard the order and it is not correct. His comment was " You people like to play games, I am busy" . I wanted him to tell me who is you people and why can you not fix the order we returned it un touched ? I am sadden to know that 1. Nothing will be done to this rude and uncaring manager , sad to say maybe he is a family member , I say that because he felt to comfortable being EVIL. 2. We lost what I believed to be a great place to eat. Thank you for the good service we once had.
