Showed up at 8:26 pm, I had called in about 2 hours earlier to verify closing time which was 9pm on a Saturday. Upon arrival, they stated they were only taking to go orders as they needed to be off by 9pm. I let them know I had called in earlier asking for closing time, which was 9. They stated after 8:30 they no longer do dine in orders. We drove from Fallbrook to Escondido to try their food, but didn't have the opportunity. Disappointed with the service and lack of transparency.

I found this pupusería in Escondido by chance while passing through and picked up some pupusas to take home. My family loved them so much they said, “Next time, we’re going with you—we need to try them fresh!” So we went back, and it was even better in person.

My wife is vegetarian and was really happy to see so many vegetarian options. For me, I love how generously stuffed the pupusas are—you can actually taste the beans, the cheese, and the carne asada. They don’t skimp on the filling, which I appreciate.

Having grown up in Miami, I miss how abundant Central American food is out there. You don’t see it as often in Southern California, so this place really stands out. The flavors are authentic, the portions are solid, and it’s become one of our go-to spots now. Highly recommend!

Good Salvadorean restaurant in the heart of Escondido!

Met a friend here for dinner. There's construction in the area but it's going to be so nice when it's all finished. Parking was easy as it was an early dinner on a weekday.

I ordered the Camarones Picoso. I warned it was spicy, but I hadn't expected it to have such a kick. It was really good even though my mouth was on fire at the end of the meal. Ha!
Forgot what my friend ordered but she liked hers too.

Their tortillas are thick and fluffy. It was really nice to dip them into the sauce from my dish. They are sort of bready. What they make the pupusas with, I think

The restaurant was very quiet and clean. Our waitress was really friendly and took great care of us.

Great variety of food, pupusas, Italian, sandwiches and great sides. Saw they serve breakfast too! Always delicious and great knowledge about what is gluten free

Amazing Salvadorian Food in Escondido!

I had an incredible experience at Cuscatlan ’ in Escondido—truly the best Salvadorian food I’ve had in a long time! It’s hard to find good pupusas around San Diego, but this place does it right. The pupusas are my absolute favorite! I tried the spinach and cheese with added beans and the chicken and cheese—both were packed with flavor and generously portioned.

Another highlight was their sweet plantains with beans and cream—such a delicious and authentic touch! The portions here are very generous, and everything I tried was flavorful and fresh.

The service was also outstanding. April was my server, and she was so sweet and kind. All the staff were friendly, attentive, and super fast. I will definitely be back, especially for their lunch specials! Highly recommend this hidden gem in Escondido.

My first time trying this restaurant out . 4:30 pm it took 1 hour to receive my small order of 2 pupusas . Food was just ok not worth waiting one hour . I guess I have to drive out of town for better food and service.

Love this place! My wife and kids always come for the pupusas and it's affordable. I spend about 40-50$ for all of us to eat. The service is always great 👍 and they always welcome us in with a smile. Best place to come and eat some delicious pupusas. I recently added the Chipotle to the revuelta best decision ever 😋

Delicious pupusas. Ordered to go. They add the cabbage and it is so good! Cozy dining area. Friendly wait staff. The order takes a while but is worth the wait.

This place its hit and miss. Food is always great but service depends on who you get, some are super friendly and some are not, but we go late at night so maybe they're just tired. I recommend Popusas all day long.

First time to try pupusas and they were excellent. I liked the pollo the best.

I ordered the plantains with black beans and the casamiento which is rice and black beans mixed together served with tortillas. The food is always excellent. I just wish I did not smell the sewer gas or if smell coming from the rear of the facility.

Loved this place!! The mariscada (seafood soup) was divine!!! So flavorful, full of crab, shrimps, prawn, etc. and big portion definitely worth the price! The chicharrón con queso (pork and cheese) pupusas were AMAZING! Nice size and texture of pork and cheese was perfect!! I will be back!!
