Next door, The Ravine on Sixteenth's page says open, a recent posts says "Grand reopening" in May. Today is May 9th, Mother's day, and we took a motorcycle ride out to try some of their highly recommended pizza to support our local businesses, BUT NO, they were not open. Hog Canyon Cafe in Esparto, CA.
A few months ago, on a lazy Spring Saturday I took a leisurely drive to the Capay Valley. Beautiful valley views, rolling hills. Wineries, olive tasting. And even a casino. Our drive took us on Route 16 that cuts through the small but mighty town of Esparso, CA. Population of about 3500. Hog Canyon Cafe sits right on Route 16 in the town. The cafe is small n cozy. Basic interior. Older building.
I got to meet the owner, young man....read full review

Hog Canyon Deli is a local favorite, serving hot and fresh breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The chorizo breakfast burrito and homemade salsa are standouts, and the biscuits & gravy with bacon on top is a popular choice. Located on the corner of Yolo Avenue and Woodland Avenue, this deli is open early and attracts locals who come to enjoy coffee and breakfast. The owner is often on site, greeting customers with a friendly word and great attitude. Despite some unique characters, the food is delicious and hits the spot every time.
