We happened to find this restaurant today. Looked bright and welcoming. Lovely patio, you could sit in sun or shade….we chose shade. Friendly staff, excellent food. The lobster burger was divine and huge! Seriously, we could have shared one and still be stuffed. Definitely have to come back and try other delicious sounding items…like the lobster rolls!

Great location, good service. They need to work on the food. We tried fish tacos - very average, and need to use more spices, meat tacos- not good, and lobster butter - tasteless. $1 oysters are good.

This place is so cute!! My friends and I were looking for a place to get some yummy fresh food after a day of paddle boarding. We also had a dog with us so needed to find a place that had outdoor seating and was dog friendly. This place was perfect! The food was incredible. Our server Matthew was so attentive and recommended some great plates for us. We had the oysters, the bread and lobster butter that was TO DIE FOR! The steak salad, and the barramuti fish was great ! Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area.

Calico is a cute spot 3 minutes (walking) from the hotel I stayed at. I went here twice during my my time in the area. The staff were friendly and most of the food I tried was good. Be prepared to spend more than $40 of you plan to have an actual meal. Both visits, the servers had gone above and beyond to make me feel welcomed when they found out I was visiting from out of town. SAVANNA was the best! She had super great energy. I had some dietary restrictions and she asked the kitchen staff all the questions; even the ones I didn't think of asking when she knew of my restrictions. They have descriptions of the dishes, but some of them do not list, what I beileve to be key/note-worthy ingredients. Lobster deviled eggs were not that great. My favorite thing on the menu was the shrimp baguette (banh mi) with the grilled shrimp that was cooked perfectly!! Honorable mention... calamari! Grab yourself a cocktail while you're at it! Soooo good. 4 stars for the whole experience.

Nice seating outside across.fro. the beach. Took us 15 minutes after being seated for someone to come to our table for a drink order. Very disappointing. For.only.ha ING 4 tables taken, service should of been spot on, but it was bad. We had the seafood tower and it was amazing. Just very disappointed in the service. Then when I went I side to order a drink for.my wife, the floor manager said I had to wait for our waitress. We'll, my wife didn't get another drink. And her tutos and soda double was $24 , which is crazy in a small cocktail glass.

Everyone was EXTREMELY nice here! ❤ This is a rare quality lately in the service industry, so it should be pointed out! Smiling faces everywhere. So many interesting choices on the menu. We will definitely be back. Sidenote...we didn't try the 2 handed fish sandwich (Looked amazing though), but you would definitely need two...or three!!! Lol!!

Nice casual dining experience with an outdoor back patio overlooking PCH. Good variety of seafood and drinks. Prices are reasonable and would recommend to others.

A very good beach seafood restaurant. The portions are very large and well cooked to order. It does get busy at times and only takes reservations for larger groups, not a family of four. But food is costly with limited sides included.

This was our second visit in a week. The first visit was a solid "ok". What we were really after, however, was some steak. So, tonight we invited our son and daughter-in-law. We had two rib eye steaks topped with lobster, one grilled salmon, one grilled cheese sandwich and one NY strip with baked potato (that was me). Our server, Kayla, was quite attentive until we placed our order - then she went dark (lots of attention to her mobile phone). What a disappointment, Part of a server's job is to check the order for accuracy with the kitchen before bringing it to the table. My NY strip was not grilled medium, but more like medium well. The baked potato (a $5 upcharge) was not freshly baked but gnarled and cold. I ordered it with no butter, just sour cream and chives. It was delivered dry with cold butter in a condiment container on the side. Out of the gate, it was clear that attention to detail and care for the food was lacking. Because we had two little kids with us, we asked for bread and butter to hold us over until the food arrived. Kayla suggested small rolls and butter - we agreed. Instead she put in an order for the lobster butter side dish (a $10 side). Little kids don't want lobster butter. Our side order of grilled veggies was very overcooked. Fast forward to the check - $300+ for a party of 4 adults and 2 kids under 4 years of age. Whew! Not affordable, not responsive and not the caliber of food or service that will ever bring us back. There are so many great restaurants in Huntington Beach - no reason at all to ever eat here again. Sad because I respect Chef Andrew Gruel and think his talent as a restauranteur is not being enhanced by this location.

My friend told me about this place. He was talking about their happy hour specials. I thought there would be more options but there wasn't as much as I thought the burger was worth it but that's only because there was only cheese and the burger patty and nothing else. It had good flavor and the bread was nice and soft. The other options were just okay, I wouldn't want to make a special trip for it again though. It was super empty when I went.

Incredible restaurant. Hands down the best food I’ve had anywhere in SoCal. Wasn’t even close. So much care in the quality, preparation and presentation. Easily a 6/5.I got the lobster roll, lobster deviled eggs with bacon, and short rib tacos - but I tasted everything. My wife got fish tacos and giant shrimp cocktail. The lobster roll was fresh baked. It was loaded. My kids got the fish & chips - which was (I think) epic halibut with delicious light crispy batter and we all ate the fresh baked salted rolls with lobster butter.Everything was perfect. It couldn’t have been better unless it was free. My kids have been begging to go back for 2 days. It was out of our way maybe 30 mins (we were going to Disneyland and I’d heard about it online). Worth the trip. The seared scallops would be my next go to. The filet or tomahawk also. I saw other people eating steaks that looked unreal. If you want steak & seafood, give this one a shot. I went in with high expectations and was blown away. I live in an affluent area with mediocre restaurants (North County San Diego) but I love great food. This was a welcome delight. Nice neighborhood, outstanding food, great presentation, and the ambiance is comfortable - all good to bring the kids. Service was exceptional. We got lucky and it was $5 taco Tuesday. We weren’t looking for a deal but if you are, 2 or 3 of those and you’re good. I don’t drink but if I did, the bar looked fun.I’ve eaten at 3 Michelin Star restaurants and left less satisfied than at Calico Fish House. Not kidding. It’s a good restaurant.

We were looking for Captain Jack's fish house, there was no parking, so we pulled in to another fish house to happen to be the calico fish house. Unbelievable! The calamari was amazing when we finally got it. The restaurant was so busy but it was really worth the wait!Light fare, FANTASTIC FAREVegetarian options: The grilled vegetables were awesome!
