Izayaka Osen is a hidden gem for sushi lovers! Making our reservation through google was a breeze, and parking was easy with the added perk of a Tesla supercharger.The restaurant's clean and inviting atmosphere, bustling with lots of customers immediately set the stage for a memorable dining experience.Our servers, Catherine was an absolute gem. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive & she was very sweet and loved the energy she had this evening . Andy & Phillip also stopped by several times to check on us. Their attentive and friendly service definitely enhanced our evening.As for the food, it was outstanding! The tuna pringles had such a rich truffle & cilantro scent and the texture was an added plus. The crunchy-ness from the crispy wontons was a perfect match. Also, the toro uni bowl with Kajime nori was amazieach dish was a delight for the senses. The grilled salmon and hamachi collar were cooked to perfection, and the green tea cake with ice cream was the perfect ending to our meal.Overall, Izayaka Osen exceeded our expectations in every way. With its convenient location, welcoming ambiance, attentive service, and delicious food, it's a must-visit for any sushi enthusiast.Highly recommended!

Food (including kushiyakies) and drinks i ordered are on point, but i have so many things to critique on the service!!!!! the service is worse than average middle upper price restaurant.1. I made a reservation two weeks ago with comment that that day will be my birthday and i want a better sitting for a party of two. When i stepped into the restaurant, they gave me a bar seating??? I negotiated afterwards to get a regular table seating. I even arrived 4 minutes earlier it’s not like 20 minutes late to get anything left. I don’t quite understand. This tells that the restaurant doesn’t look at customer’s reservation comment at all.2. NO SOY SAUCE on the table until i asked ? i don’t understand this as well. You are a japanese restaurant it’s your responsibility to make sure every table has soy sauce at least because i saw other tables have that. Please balance your service.3. Desserts were served on the table before i finished the food. It’s a norm to ask customers are you ready for desserts right? Clearly i’m not ready at all!!! The most funny thing for this is that they knew today is my birthday and said they will put a candle or decor foodie thing next to the desserts, but later on they didn’t. So why ask?*While ordering, they made a mistake. I only want one eggplant kushiyaki but they gave me two… while eating omakasei bowl, they forgot to give me the spoon for taking the food…….. No one asked how was your food. I waited for 5 minutes for someone to waive my parking ticket.This is minor but as mentioned that day was my birthday i didn’t hear anyone saying a word of happy birthday. I’m not judging on this but you are a fine dining restaurant so it’s your job to keep up with the service and possibly hype up your customers. I’m not picky requesting for this, but there are way too many restaurants doing this so well!!!!! This is not my first time here and when you are selected to be a birthday place is a recognition. Please train your employees to make sure everyone all the shifts on the same level. I’m overall very disappointed. Even though food is great i’m not hungry like that. Most likely won’t come back again.

Service was indifferent if not rude. Seemed like the roll was pre made, the tempura was cold. The tuna sashimi was low quality, very firm in parts. The yellow tail and jalapeno sashimi was bland and same read on fish quality.

Disappointing experience overall. Food and ambience are pretty good here. But - Service was poor. We ordered sushi specifically with no wasabi as one in our party can't handle it. Sushi came with wasabi and of course as it turns out the person who cant have it, took the first piece and had a serious adverse reaction. Just a perfunctory apology offered for something that could have been pretty serious. Be warned as it doesn't seem the staff takes allergies etc as seriously as they should.

We came the weekend after Valentine's Day and the place was packed. We ended up sitting outside on the patio with heat lamps. The area we sat was a bit small but overall, not a bad ambiance. The sushi was fresh and the prices are reasonable for what you are getting. We ended up over ordering a little. My favorite item of the night was the crab meat wrapped in salmon. We also ordered some yakitori, the toro with uni and caviar, the kaiseki set, and the sushi set for 2. In addition, I ordered the chawanmushi (steamed egg with seafood) and it was great. My only complaint about the experience was I asked the waitress what was in the kaiseki set because I didn't want repeats. She didn't know and didn't end up checking for us. I ordered the chawanmushi, which ended up being a repeat item because it also came with the kaiseki set. In addition, there were also a couple sushi items that were also repeats with the sushi set. I was a little annoyed by that because we ended up with too much food (and of the same food) and she had been trying to suggest more items. Aside for the upselling, everything else was great and we know what to order next time.

It's an exceptional date night restaurant or just to treat yourself to a culinary delight. We couldn't stop eating to take notes or photos! Next time we are in the greater Irvine area, we'll be coming back for more.
