Julian, was to me, back in the day, my favorite destination to spend a day with a special lady! The smell of apple pie in the fresh air, old town shopping, boardwalk lined shops, a corner drugstore, like the ones so many of us once visited, it had a 4 stool soda fountain, candy and snacks, next to skin lotion, soap etc. Many nice friendly people there treated us as guests. Julian is a lovely, cozy town; sightseeing was a joy!A quaint wooden Catholic Church stood at the top of a hill, just above my favorite dining place. Romanos was my prime destination for a Sunday drive. It had the look of a small home converted to a restaurant and bar. A waitress who served us on my first visit always complimented me every time I came I back, with,"Hello Karl, nice to see you again." The food was always delicious and served just like my mother would! One instantly felt comfortable there and at home. It was the perfect place to warm up from the fall chill and enjoy the wonderful aroma of cooking food.At the bottom of the hill, there was a Standard Station on the corner of the main cross street, which often was a gathering place for touring mororcycles. On the hill top across from the fire station was a turn of the century graveyard, right of Ichabod Crane and the Legend of Sleeping Hallow. It might remind some of an old miningtown from years ago.Thank you, special dear waitress, for a very being part of a many great memories. I am sorry I can not remember your name, God bless you and the owner's of Romanos!

Romano's is my favorite Italian restaurant. I love the cute home atmosphere. The staff are excellent and friendly. I love their house chianti and homemade rolls with olive oil and vinegar but I will also ask for butter. I've never ordered anything that wasn't flavorful and very good. Their meatballs are big and tasty. Their small dinner salad is bountiful and their antipasta is great and also bountiful with their Italian dressing. I've had their entrees made with chicken, eggplant, pork chops, lasagna, pizza and sandwiches; all excellent. Their Sicilian rice is yummy and buttery. Their pickled cabbage is tasty. Their prices are reasonable and not over priced. However, I was a bit disappointed my last visit with the smallest chicken breast I'd ever had in my entrée. Overall, I highly recommend Romano's.

It's a very cozy restaurant. They had the fireplace going on a very cold and rainy afternoon. My wife and I enjoyed some clam chowder soup that was outstanding. Then came the main course. Excellent homemade Italian cuisine and wine. The service was awsome, I highly recommend Romano's.

Came in on a busy Saturday night. It was obvious they had been slammed, but staff were gracious, we were seated, had pleasant, prompt service and a delicious pizza in reasonable time.(I'm not not an easy reviewer, so they earned their stars)

Recently had the pleasure of dining at Romano's Restaurant in Julian, CA, and I was absolutely blown away by the experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported to a cozy Italian trattoria with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The wood-plank floors, the charming porch, and the comfortable lounge all contributed to the feeling of being in a special place. But the true star of the show was the food. I ordered the meat lovers pizza, the veggie pizza, and the margarita pizza, and each one was absolutely phenomenal. The crust was perfectly cooked, with a nice balance of crispness and chewiness. The toppings were fresh and flavorful, and the pizzas were cooked to perfection. I could really taste the quality of the ingredients in every bite.I was also very impressed by the service at Romano's. Our server was attentive and friendly, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. He was also knowledgeable about the menu and was able to make recommendations that were spot-on.Overall, I had an amazing experience at Romano's Restaurant. The food was phenomenal, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Italian dining experience in Julian!

A very cute restaurant, the food and service are also on point. The chicken parmesan was delicious, it originally comes with rice and vegetables so I requested to change for a fettuccine romano instead and they accepted my request. I shared with my husband and the portion was enough for us. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Our first time in Julian, we were told to come here by a family friend. We got the anti-pasta salad with Bleu cheese, it was pretty good. Also the garlic bread with cheese. The red sauce it came with was delicious. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan, he liked it. I got the fettuccine Romano and added shrimp. Everything was pretty good, I just needed to add salt. I also ordered the clam chowder, my husband and I couldn't finish it. The flavor wasn't there for us and we both like clam chowder. Since it was only served that day we were excited to get it. They boxed our food up for us, which is nice, but didn't give us the red sauce that came with the bread. Next time, we'll do it ourselves just so we get what we want and pay for.
