3 of us tasted the new 2021 pinots from Mindego Ridge. The block reserve is a complex wine still slightly tight with a hint of vanilla, fruit and fantastic tannins. Great to drink right now. Put it away, and 3 to 10 years later, it'll be the perfect Pinot.The nonblock reserve is a more fruit forward, but not jammy, pinot with no wrong notes and is delicious right now. If you want to take a quiet break from the hectic Bay Area scene, hop in your car and drive to Mindego Ridge Vineyard deep in the Santa Cruz Mountains The drive alone is calming, scenic and worthwhile. We went today at 11:00 and had Dave all to ourselves. Fantastic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines (our favorites) and so interesting to talk to Dave about his vineyards (with wife Stacy of course) and their wines. I so much prefer visiting wineries where you can interact directly with the owners. This is a beautiful setting to taste at and as longtime Coastside residents, I’m sorry it took us so long to find them. Highly recommended!
