The food was good but the drink is not as good
This is the best restaurant in La Jolla. Consistently delicious, fairly priced, excellent service. It was a staple of my childhood and has returned as the same stalwart. The crab stack is incredible, the chicken satay, Japanese hot rock, and lemongrass dumplings are must-tries. Andrea is great behind the bar and is always on her game!
Overall, we had a nice experience. The service was excellent — our waitress was wonderful, and the atmosphere inside was beautiful and very pleasant.
The food, however, felt a little too simple for the price. We ordered a sushi roll, duck quesadilla, and tuna and salmon sashimi. The sashimi was fresh and very good, but the roll and duck quesadilla, while tasty, were nothing particularly special.

Roppongi Restaurant & Lounge is a staple in La Jolla. The atmosphere is stylish, relaxing, and very pleasant. Service is excellent, with staff friendly and attentive. The menu blends sushi, sashimi, seafood, steaks, wok‑fired dishes and shareable Asian‑inspired small plates. Popular items include the crab stack, chicken satay, Japanese hot rock, lemongrass dumplings, sushi roll, duck quesadilla, and tuna and salmon sashimi. The sashimi is fresh and very good; the crab stack is incredible; the chicken satay is a must‑try. Drinks are creative, with the lychee martini a nice surprise and the Happy Hour all day on Monday offering great food, delicious drinks, fun atmosphere and great prices. Prices are fairly high for some dishes, and the food can feel a little too simple or overly creative at times, but many guests still rate it 5 stars for service and atmosphere and 3.5–4 stars for food. Roppongi remains a La Jolla favorite and is worth trying at least once.
