About Sushi Nekosan

Sushi Nekosan offers incredible sushi rolls, including the popular Aloha Roll with seared salmon and macadamia topping, and The Ultimate Hamachi with savory and bright flavors. The yellowtail kama is a standout dish, with generous portions of tender meat. The sushi selection ranges from classic to unique, with creative sashimi options and fresh, flavorful fish. Customers praise the fresh and amazing sushi flavors, as well as the delicious appetizers, nigiri, sashimi, and rolls. The miso soup is served extra hot with seaweed and tofu, and the mint-infused water is refreshing. Diners can enjoy the sea breeze while seated outdoors, creating a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is known for its attentive service, with staff quickly preparing food and even offering free edamame beans when short-staffed. The owner and staff are friendly and create a welcoming environment. The specialty rolls are large enough for two people, with some reviews noting that one roll and a few apps are enough for a satisfying meal. The presentation of dishes, including sashimi like salmon, is often described as beautiful and interesting. Overall, Sushi Nekosan is highly recommended for its exceptional sushi, friendly service, and enjoyable outdoor setting.

An exceptional dining experience right in the heart of LaJolla. The food is fresh and plentiful. The servings are creative, colorful, individual, and joyful. Great chefs. Congratulations Steve..e
A really good place! They also have vegan sushi which is super amazing! But it’s So beyond expensive. Each roll starts at 30$ which is insane to me. We had a weird experience where they brought us out the wrong roll and then we waited an HOUR for the right roll. The restaurant was empty too. We’re not sure why they did that but it was so odd and really left a bad taste
This place is crazy overpriced. I’ve eaten here 3 times in the past 2 years and each time the prices had been increased each time. It’s ok sushi but not amazing enough to justify the prices. For example, rolls are around $28 and 3 years ago they were $18. A bowl of miso soup is $8. Edamame $11. A small bowl of avacado salad $22. We won’t ever go back. You can get better sushi at better prices elsewhere.
