“Great service and amazing beer! We got a chance to taste their traditional beers as well as some of their experimental beers. The staff gave us an in depth description of the ideas behind their experimental beers and made for a great night out! Will come again and I highly recommend this spot. An up and coming gem in SD.“
“still here at the moment. this place is a cozy, hole in the wall establishment. the smash burger they have here is intoxicating all on it's own, it literally melts in your mouth. I added some fries on the side and my drink of choice was the natural red wine. I paired these fantastic options with the outdoor seating that is located in the back. I chose this place because it's within walking distance of where I live. I'm glad it's nearby, because I'll be coming back again. It's my first time here by the way. 5 out of 5 ! Also, let me add that the music playlist they have in rotation is curated perfectly well. Good vibes to say the least.“
“Thank you Mason for such great service while I Hosted our private event. It was fantastic. You want above and beyond to make sure everybody was accommodated. Excellent meal, the salmon was perfect! And a great drink selection. The chocolate cake dessert was fantastic. This restaurant has a super great vibe. An Awesome bar. On. Oh sides. When there’s jazz playing, it’s a lot of fun. Nice big long bar to sit at and have a drink. highly recommend if visiting the San Diego area.“
“This was our second visit to this place, and once again, we were pleased with our choices. I particularly enjoyed the Cardiff tri-tip option—it adds a nice local touch to the menu, and the burger was exquisite! One thing that bothered me was the need to pay extra for fries instead of chips. While the fries were indeed really good, shouldn't a burger come with fries? The restaurant offers plenty of wine and beer selections, and the service was nice and attentive. However, despite sitting indoors, it was surprisingly cold, even with our jackets on!Overall, while I wouldn't give it a 5-star rating, I still recommend this place“
“Love Khan's. The food is amazing and the service is the best. I especially liked Sam...great service and great personality...so funny! Thanks for an enjoyable time each time we go for lunch or dinner. Happy hour is fantastic! Great ambiance!“
“First time visiting Common Theory. Was a quick stop during a business trip to San Diego. Other than the burger being medium rare when a co-worker requested medium well. Service was excellent, and the atmosphere was inviting. Next time, I have to get a bourbon.“
“This place is amazing! But even more than the food and vibe, the people are amazing! Andrew the manager went out of his way to make our last minute meetup happen and Casey (or KC - sorry if I got it wrong!) was the best server I’ve ever had. He not only handled the meetup that ended up with way more people than expected, he was so fun and nice and him and Andrew were just great people! 10/10 recommend for meetups/networking/events!“
“I really don’t get the bad reviews… I’ve been coming here almost every week for almost a year now… it’s always a great time, any food that I have tried has always been fresh, hot and tasty. The beer selection is immense and delicious (get the bad apple cider… it’s the bees knees). I feel like anyone that had a bad experience… was a Karen ? or privileged. The owner is the best, super kind and has a great sense of humor. The other girl that gets behind the bar is also super nice and attentive. The bar is always clean and the regulars are also nice and welcoming. It’s almost like your family bar. I’ve had nothing but good vibes and energy ANY time I come. Try the fries, wings, tenders, burgers and the brisket… it’s all good… you won’t regret coming here“
“(Last visited 5/15/2023.) Hanging out in San Diego with my boys for the weekend and it's the last full day before we have to head back home. Well, it's Sunday Funday so that means brunch! I found out this place offers bottomless mimosas on Saturdays and Sundays 9:30am to 1:00pm so we pulled up and got started! Here's how it went...Atmosphere/Appearance: The Bootlegger is set right downtown on the corner of Market Street and 8th Avenue. There's a big vertical sign hanging way above the door pointing down to the bar in a very 60s Las Vegas sign sort of fashion. The inside gives me not-quite rustic vibes with its leather seats, exposed brick, yet modern amenities such as huge TVs hanging over the bar. It was a good mix. This place was LIVE though! It was lively, energetic and just an overall good time.Service: I can't remember who took care of us because there was so much going on, but we sat at the bar so the mimosas were flowing at Mach speed. Lol. We never needed to ask for anything because we had it.Food: I went with the Steak & Eggs, which is seared skirt steak, two eggs any way, tomatoes, peppers and a potato hash. It was cool. I'm here for the drinks and I just need food to soak up the alcohol. Lol. I would certainly lean a different direction, maybe toward the chicken & waffles with mac & cheese or something like that.Value: Pretty great if you ask me. Bottomless mimosas are $25.00 and you get to drink for 3.5 hours if you get here at 9:30am. Lol. That's pretty good value. My steak & eggs were only $15.00 so that's why they were pretty mid. Lol.If you're coming for brunch you're going to love this place! I know I did and I look forward to returning next year!“
“Cool and relaxed San Diego bar close to Balboa park. Free parking in a garage right around the corner! The Ahi nachos were recommended but they were too hard to eat on narrow pasta chips! Drinks were tasty and beer selection was good. Definately will go again and try different appetizers!“
“Loved the atmosphere for date night. We got served quickly despite the busy night. Our drinks were a bit too sweet to drink a full drink, but I know if we asked they would have dialed it back on the sugar next time and nailed it. Seems like it could be a fun place to meet people too - pretty social all around based on the amount of standing room. Get on the list for the speakeasy in the back when you arrive if it’s a weened and they aren’t taking reservations in advance. Would definitely go back for another date night or with friends.“
“3.5 stars... rounds up to 4? I guess? It's a cute place in cute South Park. Great atmosphere, colorful and airy. Really young clientele when we went, which was just when they opened. The food was decent, but not astounding. The tomato creme based dishes were notably thin and watered down, and the rice could have been cooked a few minutes more. The Naan was great though, as were the appetizers (Samosas and some potato pancake sort of thing, I think?).Service was a bit scarce, but the pleasant demeanor of the server easily made up for it. Also, note to Management: please inform the wait staff that providing the customer with a bill to review BEFORE they pay isn't some extraneous old-timey "boomer" thing, but a standard transactional necessity for customers. People need to know exactly what their bill is comprised of before they pay (you don't just verbally tell them a total and ask for a credit card). That's the point of bringing the bill first. It's in everyones' best interest to make sure there aren't errors! Thanks, Curiosity. We enjoyed ourselves!“
“Hands down one of the best burgers I've ever had. Add a side of Mastiff fries and it's quite the friggin experience. We had NO critique on ANYTHING the flavors, textures, freshness, the rad staff. It's fenominal. Just look at that friggin maillard action!“
“I went to Punchbowl a few Fridays ago for my friends birthday celebration. There was about 10 of us that had a sit-down dinner and an additional 10 of us that joined for games and karaoke. I highly recommend the brussel sprouts if you're dining in. I was doing dry january, so I didn't try any of their alcoholic beverages, but feedback from my friends, they make some pretty good drinks too! The service was super attentive while we had our dinner. It did take a while for us to get the karaoke room. There was a waitlist. But we played cornhole and other games while we waited. I really love this spot, because there are so many games and activities to do. It's definitely more entertaining than just going to a regular bar. The karaoke room was so much fun! There's one karaoke room tucked away on the main floor. The rest of the karaoke rooms are located on the second floor. It was really cool and felt like your own private space. I would definitely go back. I'm contemplating to even have my own birthday here!“
“First time here and I'm glad we picked it. The waitress was very friendly with a nice, chill bar atmosphere. The poke nachos was excellent! Wontons as the tortilla chips with poke and avocado. Ended up getting the Swiss mushroom burger. If you like mushrooms then try this burger! Will come again as I enjoyed the food.“
