Upon arrival, there was no sign. All the menu items are hand written on white boards. There was only one staff member working. It took a while for us to get our food. There were no utensils, napkins, or any sauces out. The store/restaurant just felt off, like they were going through some kind of changes or renovations? The food was great and the lone employee did the best he could with what was given to him. It was just an awkward experience.

This location is the best Dickey’s in OC. The coleslaw is so fresh and delicious and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The chicken is my favorite, so flavorful!!

This store is a disaster. Arrived to pickup online order. One staff member present preparing food, preparing orders, taking orders and money. Store was dirty and in disrepair sign in front of store fallen of building. Was informed ribs would be another 10 minutes I responded OK. Staff member tried to get me to substitute multiple times. I finally insisted I wanted the ribs we ordered. Waited for them to be ready. Went to the counter and I was told there was no mac n cheese. Again asked to substitute I said no my kids only wanted Mac n cheese and that I wanted a refund. Was asked to take a credit. I said no…this back and forth continues until I get tired of talking about it and say OK and asked in what form the credit will be issued. I was told “don’t worry I will remember you”. I was fed up at this point and left the store. Unfortunately I did not check my order. Missing all sides (bbq beans, coleslaw and potato salad) except 2 green beans that were not Dickeys Roman Green beans but canned beans likely from the grocery store, missing also pulled pork sandwich and the sliced brisket sandwiches I ordered were chopped brisket. The ribs I had to wait for were cold and the sliced brisket mealy and bland. This is the second similar experience at this store and this visit was totally unacceptable. I would recommend closing this location immediately as it will damage your brand reputation. Our experience with the Dickeys in Hilliard, OH were we moved from was a completely different experience. I called the store per website instructions for missing items and what a shock no answer.

Please know that this Dickeys is independently run by "Steve" and his attention to details and correct preparation is fantastic!...dont compare to other dickeys (that have closed!)...if "heritage BBQ" got a MICHELIN STAR...This Dickeys should get GOLD!!

From being greeted walking into the restaurant to eating the exceptionally made food, this place has definitely stepped up. I definitely won’t be going anywhere else for bbq from now on. ??

We had the brisket, pulled pork and chicken. They do a badass job smoking the meats and the sides are all made from scratch. It was kids eat free on Sunday so the value proposition is excellent. Would recommend to anyone.

Over a 30 minute drive from where I live and I need to come back to this place! The manager/owner Steve was such a gentleman and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of and felt at home in so many ways. He took pride in his work of both his culinary efforts and customer service. He expressed he will be changing the location to his own BBQ joint and I can't wait to see how quickly this place turns around under his efforts! All in all, food and service were amazing!

Under new management and this place is INCREDIBLE. The food is delicious, the manager is so friendly and welcoming (and is going a great job training new staff to be just as awesome). They are clearly very popular with take out and delivery orders, but the staff always prioritize in-person customers. The location is very tidy and well kept. The location doesn't offer ALL of the sides that some other locations offer, but they are very good and clear about communicating those differences. In addition to simply DELICIOUS food I'm a huge fan of all the gluten free options. The BBQ sauces are all gluten free, and they have plenty of sides that are also gluten free. They do a good job of keeping the work surfaces clean so the bread products don't accidentally spread crumbs on the meats. (I have Celiac disease so I need to be super careful about cross-contamination. Which is challenging for restaurants to be able to guarantee. So far so good!)

It was QUITE the exciting news that our only REAL smoked Texas BBQ restaurant in our city had some fresh, new leadership at the helm and smiling faces behind the counter!...Word travels FAST here in Foothill Ranch about a new spot that has GOT to be tried...or given a *second chance*! ?...The "word on the street" from our regular Cashier at Ralphs was that he had met the new "Capt. of Dickey's BBQ Pit Ship" Steve, who had come into the grocery store and was excited, passionate, and proud to invite the Ralphs Team to swing by and see the, "New STANDARD that he has set for not only himself but his entire team and it's a HIGH bar but ALL hands are on board and on deck to give anyone who had been in previously a SECOND first impression of the quality of the food, cleanliness of the restaurant and friendliness that can TRULY be called...Southern Hospitality in our little Foothill Ranch City!" ???

Very basic, a guy only works in the entire store. No French Fries? The store was totally empty and I can tell why. This place will not last for long.

We hadn't been to Dickies in quite awhile but decided to have dinner there a couple of days ago. First of all Xavier provide great customer service. He gave us a sample of their chili which was great so we added that to our order. We got the brisket plate with Mac & Cheese and the Loaded Baked Potato Casserole. We were pleasantly surprised that everything on the plate tasted very good. The brisket was very tasty. We had enough leftovers for the next day. By the way great 80's music. We will make it a point to come her more often.

Really good food, helpful staff, and nice big, clean dining room. Gluten free options. Xavier was very accommodating to our small group tonight. We will be back!

Ordered online through Dickey’s website and order was delivered completely wrong. Called the restaurant and no one answered. Called Door Dash and they couldn’t get anyone to answer their call either. DoorDash said that I paid through Dickey’s so they needed to give me refund. Dickey’s corporate office said this location is independently owned and maybe closing down. Don’t order from here. They are going out of business and scamming everyone.

First thing I have to note is that the owner seemed weird, even when we asked innocent questions, he seemed to be very defensive. For example: we asked: "is this how the brisket is supposed to be cut for a double order, it just seems small?" Since we got a double order of meat, we just expected it to be more. We weren't being hostile or Karen-y about it at all. He responded: "yes I weighed it and cut it myself," even though we literally witnessed the other person do it.... such a strange way to answer to question and so defensive. Also he (or another employee) smokes cigarettes just outside the back door and it wafts through the whole area. I love the smell of barbeque smoking, grew up in the South where it was common, but the tar and putrid smell of cigarette smoke is unlike any other, so I am not mistaken with the smell here.As a side to your meal, you're supposed to get pickles. For one meal, we got pickles....but for another, we got none. We'd asked for extra pickles (since our toddler likes them a lot) and instead of getting extra, we got none for some reason. Very weird. The brisket meat is delicious, very tender. However, avoid the ribs. They are dry as hell, and very stringy, not super tasty (at least when we went a few weeks ago). I know you don't go there for the veggies, but the veggies are not good. The green beans are blech, the mac and cheese is meh, but the mashed potatoes are great! They have a coke freestyle machine, and like any other Dickey's, one small free ice cream cone per person is a huge bonus.
