I happened upon this place because of the calendar sent out to all Long Beach residents. Excellent quality pastries. Prices are very reasonable. We've been twice and were so pleased on both visits. Pastries are the quality of any great bakery in the Los Angeles area. I love the cheese and jalapeño croissants, and also the macrons. Can't wait to try the bistro!

Great selection of items! Cashiers are always friendly and helpful with ensuring inventory is correct. Cool place for students to hang out.

Freshman here at LBCC and the bakery has to be my favorite spot on campus. They open at 9am and their menu options are amazing! My boyfriend loved their breakfast burrito and I loved their pepperoni brioches. There are some menu items that are permanent and some that are new for the day. You can tell their chocolate chip cookies are made from love cause duh it's made by amazing culinary students! also, I'm literally OBSESSED with their Jamaica drink so much that I get it everyday. For real it's so refreshing Their lines can get long but they're so quick with the service and the wait time for your food after ordering is less than 4-5 minutes. seriously. Customer service is awesome and they do tend to run out of menu items around 12 but that's because it's just so good you can't even be mad! Their utensils are all compostable and biodegradable which I looooooove. What's not to love about this place. W for tha culinary students

Being a student from the south of France I congratulate the bakery for recreating dishes from my childhood, witch such finesse. Delicious affordable food for students that are desperately in need of nutritious and cheap options. Thank you for being so welcoming and kind towards your customers! PS the breakfast brioche is a must have!

Fantastic place and always a favorite stop of mine, pre-COVID pandemic. Made by students and run by students, under the guidance and instruction of Chefs Pierre Jues and Chris Young. I’m not sure why I haven’t already reviewed this place, but I am doing so now as the Spring 2021 semester at the college is coming to an end. The Bakery has been closed to the public but been offering the baked goods it makes to essential college employees working on campus, students and others in need, and some other fortunate few, like me.During this semester what has been made in the bakery has expanded into things they have never done before. Rather than try to remember it all, I just want to share the note I sent to the program faculty and students today to share my favorites and show my appreciation:Wow, this semester has been the best I’ve experienced since the bakery opened! Super job and huge thanks to all of the students! You’ve all stepped up and set a new high bar for my expectations of the bakery. Great seeing a lot of new things not offered before. My two new favorites are the chocolate cake, it should be called shock-a-lot cake because of the intense and shockingly amazing chocolate flavor and deliciousness! The banana Nutella bread was my other favorite, with such a great banana and walnut flavor and the subtle hazelnut chocolate flavor that doesn’t over power or over sweeten the bread. Thank you for bringing extra joy and enjoyment that helped brighten up this strange pandemic world—which finally seems to be coming to an end. And, finally, much thanks and love to Chefs Pierre and Chris for all the hard work they put in semester after semester to continue improving the Baking and Pastry program and taking it to the next level!

This student run bakery is located in the V building on the Long Beach City College campus. They sell baked goods and sandwiches created by culinary arts students at a low price. The line to order was very short (which I guess was an anomaly). I ordered a chocolate brownie, a chocolate croissant and a small loaf of ciabatta bread (about 6 inches in diameter). Total price was under $5. All were consumed later in the day. The chocolate brownie with walnuts was just "okay"; nothing special. A notch better was the bread, which was crunchy outside and pillowy soft inside. But the buttery-flakey croissant crammed full of chocolate was - and I sincerely mean this - the best chocolate croissant I ever remember eating. I assume different students bake every day so you may experience different results depending on the day. But for the price it's definitely worth it to take the chance if you find yourself on this campus.

Had to balance out the one star rating because the food here is always great - it's both fresh and created by Culinary Arts students. The iced lattes here are the best on campus!

The baked goods here are fresh and excellent. It gets busy because it's a great place, but don't let that stop you!

I love getting coffee in the morning before class. Friendly staff all the time, regular less how busy they get.

The concept is nice: students of culinary arts practice and hone their skills as they serve their patrons with very forgiving pallettes at a lower cost. In this case, I can't be as forgiving. My entire order was just wrong. From execution to ingestion. As I was passing the bakery on my morning walk, the smell of fresh bread and other sweet treats captured my attention. I arrived just as they opened and I was behind some very eager and happily faithful and returning customers. So from the display of freshly baked goods I chose a ham and cheese croissant, an oatmeal cranberry cookie and very French looking baguette. And that's where my delight ended. Hopefully it was just the first batch that was bad because how the customers in front of me praised this place made me expect some superior quality food. The croissant was not flaky and buttery but oily and soggy. The oatmeal cookie was more like a tasteless cracker. And my baguette was not French at all. I'm not always able to come here to enjoy some cheap eats and who knows if I'll try again. But I hope the students here practice some more and taste test before putting some unsuspecting sap like myself through this culinary disappointment.

Fall 2017 today October 24. Very nice staff. I ordered a quiche and the bakers warmed it at a high temperature and the quiche was very hot. The cheese and the Spinach were high quality. Outstanding customer service. All the pastries are made in their bakery.

This place is amazing! All of their pastries and goodies are made fresh every morning. Taking one bite you can immediately tell their baked goods are fresh and they are delicious. :) I love getting their fresh bread/ jalepino ham and cheese/ tomato pesto tart/ and brownies. I heard their coffee is the best but I have yet to try that until next semester... But I have tried the horchata and hibiscus tea and they are also spectacular. Can't wait to stop by next semester. I'm glad lbcc decided to fund the the culinary arts and provided students an opportunity to learn with new equipment while other students get to try their creations. Will definitely be back.

I love the LBCC Bakery! There's a wide selection to choose from but the main gem for me is the almond croissant. Highly recommend anyone to try it! You'd be hooked. The students that run it are great, the lines are long mainly because many customers have questions about each pastry -- so I've noticed the students giving detailed responses with patience. Which I personally appreciate! Great spot!

I had no problem with the staff. I just wish I were able to take out things that came in the panini. Overall, I really liked what I got!
