Sura Korean BBQ & Tofu House Restaurant - Long Beach

My friends and I came to Long Beach just because we saw this place on TikTok and they have plant based Korean bbq. We went and I went inside to get a table while my friends were on their way. I let them know my party size and they told me to let them know when the rest of my party gets there and then they’ll seat us. I used the restroom then waited by the door for my party for about 8 minutes then the waiter asked me if they were almost here so I told him yes I think they’re walking over right now, he opened the door and said ”can we wait outside?” While gesturing for me to get out, it was 90 degrees outside, they had several open tables and their bar seating had no one over there so I’m not sure why i wasn’t able to be seated anywhere while I wait. I stepped out side and waited in some shade and about 3 minutes later the rest of my party came over we went inside and got seated. 5 minutes later Our waiter came over and very passively asked us if we’d dined here before, which we said no and he pointed out the qr that we already had open on our phones and then walked away without letting us talk he was very much not trying to interact with us. Then he left and came back 10-15 minutes later. He asked if we knew what we wanted to drink and we ordered our drink he checked our id’s then said “give me a second” then he went to the table next to us and was being much more friendly checking in with them. Then 10 minutes later he came back slammed the water and cups on the table and walked away. So we left.

Food was great: I loved the variety of items and amount of vegan options. We enjoyed everything we ordered. I have to say the music was on point. All the best k-pop songs! I wish the service was better. Our server rarely came by and took forever to get our orders taken. It wasn’t even that crowded.

I’d like to go back and see if the service is better because the food was delicious.

Phenomenal! Everything was spectacular! Atmosphere was fantastic , great location , staff was very helpful and fun! Trevor took wonderful care of us! Can't go wrong with any of the dishes! Lots of vegetarian options! They are happy to customize too!

Visited from out of town, recommended by some friends who lived nearby and Sura DIDN’T disappoint. Word to the wise, get a reservation EARLY - although they’re EXTREMELY flexible, the venue is a bit small and I wouldn’t want anyone missing out.
Despite having a party of 8, we had a reservation and were seated IMMEDIATELY. Incredible hospitality, service, and of course, drink deals.
Also heads up, they only have ONE working bathroom and there tends to be a line. But nothing too difficult to navigate.

I want to preface this by saying I haven’t tried the other menu items as it was just my first time there, but my bulgogi bibimbap was lacking in meat and flavor. If I am going to spend $21+ on bibimbap i would expect more meat than what I got. Due to the lack of meat, there was also not that much flavor, leaving me a bit disappointed. I also ordered japchae which was too peppery and dry. I’ve had different variations of japchae from various korean restaurants and it was always moist and not peppery.

With that said, the appetizers were delicious. We ordered the scallion pancake, mushroom fries, and fried vegetable dumplings and everything was perfect. The service was great and I enjoyed the atmosphere.

Worst food I ever paid for. Served stone cold and bitter. Had to go home and brush my teeth to get the taste out of my mouth. Will NEVER try Korean food again!

Such a great spot with lots of vegan options! We went here with meat eaters and the waiters made sure to assure which items were vegan& not contaminate anything. The vegan items were prepared for us in the kitchen so no shared table top grill. We got so much food to try a little bit of everything and it was all so delicious. We definitely had leftovers

I come here when I’m driving through town. I love the shroom fries and their vegan options. It’s hard to get vegan banchan in most Korean restaurants but this one has amazing banchan. It’s a must try in Long Beach. Fun fact: they get their mushrooms locally and they are so fresh and delicious

Been coming here for over a year now. Usually bring my family when they visit from out of state. We always sit outside and enjoy the grill. The food is always delicious. we had Rika as our server and he was very helpful, and knowledgeable on the grill n food. As well as working hard to help his other tables/guests. Thank you Rika! He made the experience better than every single other time we’ve been there.

Very vegan friendly! The Pharaoh’s Combo (Vegan) includes bulgogi, garlic shrimp, mushrooms, dumplings, rice cake skewers, japche, salad, banchan, rice paper, and dipping sauces. Serves two but we had to take some to go, you get so much food! Service was great. They have a vegan menu.

So sad they don't have the bulgogi fries anymore
