The food was not bad at all! I ordered the hot n spicy prawn combination plate and my boyfriend ordered three taco special for seven dollars. The hot n spicy prawn was a little too salty for me. The spice level was great because I love spicy! The three taco special was really good too!!! Super big and very well worth it !!

The shrimp tacos are where it's at! Fish tacos were pretty so-so. But to be fair, when I asked the server which she liked better she definitely said shrimp, so it was at my own risk that I tried both!

One of my top places for delicious mexican food. Had a friend come into town and asked me to take him here again.

Had seen this place for ages but never went. Came here on Cinco, hoping for a festive time! Food was just alright, but drinks were pretty tasty! We tried the barbacoa tacos- definitely pricey for what it is! Only three small tacos (with corn tortilla that breaks really easily) for $17. The prawn shrimp also was not what I expected. It was served more ceviche style and to me, it just tasted like it was in a typical red cocktail sauce. The guacamole was solid though! The tres leches cake was such a disappointment! They should have called it crumbly cake instead. Where was the leches?? None that I could taste. My margarita was solid. Overall- not that great of an experience. Ambiance is fun- but other than that, I can leave it.

I cannot wait for COIVD to end so I can go back to lunch eating here. I thought Chipotle had great flavor to their steak but this place is way better. The staff is congenial and friendly. They always hook my dog up with a treat too.

Went to try this place for a Taco Tuesday lunch a couple weeks ago. It seems similar to another spot you may know about where you go down the line and build your tacos, burritos, or bowls. I had tacos with birria and al pastor ( which was actually more like a guisado than grilled al pastor). I got it to go and was disappointed when I got back to the office and realized I did not get any salsa. At least they threw in a chile. The food was ok.

Great food! And not just that, the employees are super friendly! Got the avocado spinach tortilla for my burrito. Being a vegan lover, they have a lot to choose from! Added the sweet potato tater tots to my burrito was a perfect touch. Along with their amazing sangria, you can't go wrong with this place! I highly recommend!

(Dined 12/03/19 TU @ 6:00pm): Colorful festive skulls and burritos... count me in! I was recently introduced to Calavera Burrito Co. located inside DTLA's historic Spring Arcade Building. To my embarrassment when I spoke with the owner, they have been here for nearly eighteen months. Needless to say, I've walked through the arcade many times, noticed the revolving door of businesses, and of course frequented Guisados which was only steps away (tough competition). Obviously, I returned after that initial Yelp event, but would I continue for more or simply walk by as I've done in the past!? THE FOOD Tujuino ($5.00 HH): An horchata-looking cold drink, this concoction made from fermented corn the same used in their homemade tortillas and mixed with water and unrefined cane sugar, I'd never heard of it which meant I definitely had to try it! It was a surprisingly refreshing elixir that paired well with my food but certainly stood well on its own. Why don't more Mexican restaurants serve this wonderful drink Belching Beaver Brewing Co. Dios De Los Deftones w/Lime ($5.00 HH): The beautifully designed 16oz can immediately caught my attention and had to have it! I loved Belching Beaver beers, the music of The Deftones, and Mexican food, so this was a trifecta treat. With more attitude than a Corona, the lime was a nice touch while the slightly thicker body stuck with you for a lingering finish - salud Birria & Al Pastor Tacos ($3.00 x2): Three words - messy, monstrous, magnificent! Freshly-prepared, lightly seasoned with scintillating spicies, and dressed up with all the fixings, I attempted to pick up each one only to miserably fail even though the tortillas were thicker than usual. I dug in with my fingers and collected each dropped ingredient like a madman... and I didn't care. At $3 each, I found these to be a huge bargain and finger-lickin' good SERVICE Immediately greeted by a couple young gentlemen behind the counter, they steered me in the right direction and crafted my food quickly (FYI... the tortillas were made-to-order which took several minutes). In addition, one of them taught me about the tujuino drink and sold me on it. In less than ten minutes, my entire meal was ready as I breathed in the goodness. Good job by everyone! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance) I went Metro and took the Red Line from my hipster hood to the Pershing Square Station and walked several blocks (a leisure 10 minute stroll). Otherwise, there were numerous paid parking lots and structures in the surrounding area as well as plenty of metered parking spots along the main drags of Spring St. and Broadway, respectively. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Located inside an archaic yet poignant DTLA building that was quickly becoming a burgeoning food hall, it was oddly situated along the same side only a couple "stalls" away from the L.A.-renowned Guisados that certainly brought about a friendly competition. Their beautiful storefront signage was eye-catching that welcomed you past a short front patio seating area into a high two-floor layout with dining both upstairs and downstairs, the order counter directly in front of you as you entered, a separate small side-bar tucked away in the corner, and a ton of Dios De Los Muertos displays about on the brick walls No natural lighting while plenty of electric industrial and strung Edison lights hung from the ceiling There were several muted T

By far my favorite burrito spot in the city. Great quality meat. There service is good. Everything you can expect in a taqueria and more.

I first heard of Calavera through Yelp of all places, when I got dibs on a perk here for a free entree which was delicious! Staff then, as it is now are really nice guys - so helpful and kind of funny small talking a bit. It's actually fun coming in! Fast forward a few years when I start going to a nail salon around the block, am hungry afterwards, and find myself back at Calavera buying more burritos with glee. I am now picking them up for my parents who are also new fans! They keep their Beef burritos simple with white rice, beans, queso and pico - they love it and are asking for more! I've tried the pork which is ok, but am loving the shredded chicken option. Add a buck for guac to top off the brown rice, black beans and cooked bell peppers/onion for extra yum - only $10 a piece! Be sure to follow Calavera on their social media for deals - the Valentines 2 for 1 was a great idea, as are the $5 Monday's with the coupon code. Something I may partake in, very very soon!

The burrito I had there was pretty good, but the prices were way too high for Mexican food. Basically a $12 burrito after tax for an assembly line burrito is a little steep for me. This place is like a Dia De Los Muertes themed Chipotle. If you want a customer burrito and don't mind paying a bit more for it, then this place will work. The flavors were good, but the price was only OK.

Burritos were ok tasting and the meat was good quality but they need to have better salsa options. Also definitely over priced for a burrito!
