Another Sunday morning motorcycle ride on a beautiful, clear day. This time we stopped at Gloria's for the coffee we dream about and some pastries alongside. Hot or iced Cafe de Olla is worth the stop and any wait. As always, it's the staff that sets a place apart, and this one does not disappoint. We don't know her name, but we were treated with energy, kindness, and time to just sit and enjoy the view. While nothing beats the coffee, the food is a pleasant surprise...
This cozy and well curated restaurant is nestled behind an exterior of bougainvillea and has the feel of a little cafe in the park. The menu offers a variety of options without feeling overwhelming and the staff and owner/chef are sweet and sincere. I dined here twice (both times for breakfast) during my stay in Highland Park and both times I felt so welcomed and nurtured by the whole experience. I highly recommend the handmade corn tortillas and Ahogados - they’re delicious...
