“Island Flavors Caribbean Cuisine is a gem that brings the vibrant tastes of the Caribbean to Los Angeles. Growing up in Miami next to Little Haiti, I developed a deep appreciation for Haitian and Caribbean cuisine, and finding a place that offers such authentic flavors in LA was a delightful surprise. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The portion sizes are generous too. My husband ordered the oxtail, and let me tell you, it was some of the best oxtail we have ever had. It was tender, infused with perfect Creole spices. I opted for the creole shrimp, which were equally delicious and perfectly spiced. Both dishes were a testament to the rich and diverse flavors of Haitian cuisine. The sweet plantains at Island Flavors are the best I've had in LA. My husband enjoyed his banan peze (tostones), which were crispy and delicious. I also had red beans and rice, a personal favorite, and they did not disappoint. Our meals were accompanied by Haitian pikliz (spicy pickled vegetables) and epis (a green sauce similar to chimichurri). Both added an extra layer of authenticity and flavor to our dishes. If you’ve never tried them, I highly recommend doing so. Whether you're a longtime fan of Haitian and Caribbean food or new to these vibrant flavors, this restaurant offers a delicious and authentic experience that is not to be missed. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!“
