About Hanbat Sul Lung Tang

Hanbat Sul Lung Tang, an iconic restaurant in Koreatown, has been serving up delectable Korean beef soup for decades. Known for its pure, slow-simmered beef broth, the restaurant offers a comforting and customizable dining experience.

The signature sul lung tang, a milky-white beef bone broth, is the star of the menu. Diners can personalize their soup by adding an array of flavorful toppings, such as green onions, red pepper paste, and minced garlic, allowing them to perfect the savory depth to their liking. Sides of banchan, including kimchi and pickled radish, complement the main dish and keep the table lively.

The restaurant's simple and unfussy atmosphere is part of its charm, as the focus remains squarely on the exceptional quality of the food. The meat, which includes options like intestine, flank, and brisket, is perfectly cooked, and the staff is known for their attentive and friendly service.

While the price has increased over the years, loyal customers agree that Hanbat Sul Lung Tang is still worth every visit, with some describing it as the best Korean beef soup in America. The restaurant's ability to maintain its high standards and comforting flavors has cemented its status as a beloved Koreatown institution.

Hardly a wait before 1pm 5-10. The entrance of the place is where the parking lot is, not on the corner of 5th street were I entered from 😅 they are very quick at clearing tables to let in more guests for dine in.

Ordered the brisket and it was delicious. Light and flavorful. Like others have stated, add your green onions and salt pepper or chili to your liking. Their radish and kimchi banchan were fresh and flavorful, my favorite being the radish! The milky smooth...read full review
Amazingly delicious!
One dish done properly, sul lung tang, the milky ox bone broth, with your pick of brisket, tongue, tripe, or flank. It arrives unseasoned on purpose, so salt it yourself at the table and use the radish kimchi. Twenty to thirty dollars and it will hold you all day. Open from seven in the morning, closed Sundays. Free lot in back. Thank you for keeping it simple. Five stars.
