Don't know what the hype is. Expensive average sushi with not much service. Bland sushi taste and small portions

I've been eating on Sawtelle for many many years but never stepped into Hide Sushi. I always drive by and finally came in for lunch. It was busy inside but we were able to be seated quickly. The service was fast, friendly and the food came out even faster. I ordered the tempera with 6 pieces of yellowtail sashimi. It came with miso soup and a bowl of rice. It was good. My mother ordered the chirashi bowl and wasn't impressed. If you want a quick, traditional laid back sushi fix definitely check out Hide.

Hide Sushi...after all these years I finally found you! Nice and cozy Japanese restaurant that serves up great tasting and fresh sushi, sashimi and may other Japanese delights! Ill get right to it, I thought the No.8 Chirashi combo and the No.6 Mixed combo was a great way to start and finish my dinner. I found the service to polite and always on standby to meet any requests. Hide can be a bit on the noisy side but thats not the fault of the restaurant (c'mon fellow Angelinos...take it down a notch). Other than the noise level, you'll get a great dining experience. I was a bit taken aback by the "cash only" policy here. I'm surprised that its still a practice in todays day and age. But hey, its their place their rules. If you're strapped for cash they do have an in house ATM machine. Miscellaneous: All things being true for this part of Sawtelle blvd. Parking can be challeng. I did find a parking structure around the corner. Homeboy was waving his orange flag and charged me $10. It is what it is. Finally...I thought the prices were reasonable for the quality and portions size you get. Overall: I would absolutely come back to Hide Sushi! There still plenty of menu items I need to get to. Recommended.

Love this place. My favorite sushi on the westside for sure. It's cash only but they have an ATM there. My only complaint is they don't do reservations, on week nights it's usually not so bad.

We stumbled in here one night and were delighted to find a great sushi spot with a cozy, authentic atmosphere. We had a variety of sushi and appetizers and some drinks and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Some of the best toro I had had in awhile.

Cash only! You can see what that means, if a place is not good, they usually can't survive just by accepting cash only, I like the place , it is traditional Japanese style, especially like their Chicken teriyaki, tempura and the baked Dinamite are really the best , I understand those are just ordinary dishes in Japanese cuisine but that is the reason I love about them. They can turn something so ordinary to something WOW !!! Their sushi is also great, but if you like the thin slices then you should start eyeing the thicker slices in a different light, their texture are so much better than the thinner ones when I put in my mouth , and very fresh of course!

Cash only establishment. The way I would describe this place is simple with quality. The ambiance is very cozy as it's a small establishment. Service is quick and great and when it comes to the fish, I think it's in the B to B+ range which is solid! Don't come here for special rolls as it's really just rice and fish combinations here. My go to order is always some miso soup and Tekka Maki rolls to myself.

For a while now I've been coming to Sawtelle and have been meaning to come to Hide. I'm glad I tried it but I'm not 100% sure I'd come back. The sushi was just okay overall. There were a few standout pieces such as the yellowtail and some of the more fun specialty rolls. But a lot of the basics that I love such as tuna sashimi left something to be desired. It was not bad by any means but the cost was higher than I was expecting for sushi of this quality. There are better options in the area but it is definitely worth the try once.

It was a quiet place and the sushi was fresh... the only thing I didn't not like was the wait to get a table but it was worth it.

Was looking for some good sushi on sawtelle and these place was where some friends and I ended up! It was cash only but had an ATM inside. Sushi was incredible, some of the best inari I've ever had. Service was quick and so good. A server overheard us talking about how much we love pickled ginger and brought us over a heaping plate of it. The vibe was lovely and intimate, jazz music playing in the background and the sushi chefs right at the bar. I will definitely be back.

Heard great things about Hide Sushi so I had to check it out. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. The sushi was fresh but nothing crazy. Staff was incredibly kind. Waited about 20 minutes to be seated for dinner.

I've been coming here for over 25+ years, as long as I can remember. Very authentic sushi house without nonsense like mayo or cream cheese in your rolls. Very generous portions of fish too.
