About Hide Sushi

Hide Sushi is a cozy Japanese restaurant located on Sawtelle Boulevard. The restaurant offers a traditional laid-back sushi experience with a variety of Japanese dishes. The service is fast, friendly, and attentive, with staff always willing to meet requests. The menu features a range of options, including the popular No.8 Chirashi combo and No.6 Mixed combo, as well as sashimi and other Japanese delights.

The sushi is really fresh and authentic, with the rice perfectly accommodating the fish and the seaweed being very nice. The place is clean and has a quiet, respectful vibe, though it can get crowded, so arriving early is recommended. The sushi chefs are responsive and fast, and the food is made to order perfectly, with unique and creative dishes like the Inari and the warm, crunchy salmon skin roll.

This spot is a superb hole-in-the-wall sushi restaurant that deserves a spot in any sushi lover's rotation. The salmon nigiri is particularly praised as being exceptionally buttery and delicious. Reservations are recommended, as the intimate space with a chef's counter seats only a dozen or so guests, creating an exclusive atmosphere without being showy. While it's not the cheapest option, the quality and personalized attention from the chefs justify the price for a special occasion.

Best Sweet Shrimp, Toro, Salmon Belly, Salmon skin cut rolls

Cash only spot, was recommended to me by a friend who recently went to Japan and said this place is legit and tastes authentic. From the moment the piping hot miso soup came out, it was very hearty and served authentically (no spoon). We had the lunch special chicken teriyaki and ordered a few salmon sashimi and eel and nigiris, and a spicy tuna roll. The chicken teriyaki was delicious, as well as the tempura that came with it. All the veggies and shrimp were perfectly battered...read full review

The sushi was fresh and tasty, fish portions were of good size,a bit larger than other places. Prices were okay.

Place was busy but was only given one cup of tea and never checked back for a refill. Not sure about you but during a sushi dinner I will consume 2 to 3 cups
cups. This was a set back for me
