Tokyo Dandan ramen was excellent, spicy fries and Sake were very good as well.
Dry style is soaked noodles instead of dipping broth.
The Tokyo and Dan Dan are both peanut based so don't go if you have a nut allergy lol.
But definitely a different kind of killer flavour. Got the 2 mala and then 3 spicy. The numb didn't hit as much and spicy was alright!!!
The dandan with more vinegar than peanut is definitely up my alley in case you are wondering what is the difference between the two. Did not try the dry ver but maybe one of these days I'll be back for it
Tokyo dandan is the best vegetarian ramen I have had
Update: the vegetarian items are back! Review is back to 5 stars. The best ramen for vegetarians in Sawtelle is back
Out of date:
Do not go here anymore if you are vegetarian or vegan. Killer Noddle has changed its vegetarian and vegan menu and no longer offer decent a soup broth for us non meat eaters. Now the only option for us soupy ramen lovers is their totally forgettable vegan soy ramen. It is an obvious afterthought for the restaurant. At a place all themed by its spicy ramen, the neglect is illustrated clearly in that the vegan soy ramen doesn’t come spicy at all. If you do ask for some spice they hand you some sad chilly oil and numbing spice for you to add and mix all yourself which isn’t nearly the same as it being in the broth.
There are better options for us non meat eaters a block down the street at Daikokuya where you should get their Vegan Sesame ramen.
Omg this place was so good. It blew my expectations away. And they really know their spice here, they’re not playing around.
This place is okay, just the staff is slow
The takoyaki and chicken karage were bomb 💣🔥🔥🔥
I came in at 2pm on a Friday and did not have to wait for a table. Service was good and the food as well. Laid back spot for a good conversation.
Amazing Ramen! Keep playing house music and I’ll keep coming back 🪩🕺
Restaurantji Recommends
The Baseline: For a ramen restaurant the noodles must be fresh, cooked with consistency in firmness, broth must be tasty with good body, accompaniment additions must match with the style, and the plating must work for the ramen presentation/function.
Food: Five stars for broth and noodles. Four stars for the add ins and extra dishes. Tokyo style beats Downtown style in my opinion because the body of the broth isn’t competing with extra vinegar. The base bowl of ramen is about a respectable $18 so add one will kick up the cost. Since measuring you numbness/spice levels is stirred into the base cost and the base ingredients is all you need the ramen is a five star dish.
Service: If it gets busy then wait staff are busy. You will have to flag down your server so expect this in evening service. Lunch will be more tame and enjoyable when it comes to service. Water decanter chilled on the table lets me control my own water glass.
Atmosphere: Killer Noodle is well decorated and has a consistent style. The seats are comfortable and the tables are well situated with a good amount of eating area. The outdoor patio has heating lamp so you will be okay outside in the winter.
For how much people raved about this place, my disappointment was great. Took 10~15 minutes for them to bring us water or take our order since we’ve been seated; and we were the ones who had to flag them down. They continuously brought us the wrong dish, which were for some other table… then again, we had to get up and make our way to the cashier for them to let us pay for our meal. Having lot of customers is fine as long as you can handle it… but when you cant, it becomes a frustrating experience for the customer. Food itself is okay, but nothing that matches up to the hype. Gyoza and side dishes are great. But the noodles… i feel like combination is a bit weird. Noodles are thin and dryish, soup is salty and pasty.. It felt like i was eating more of a vegetable dish. It could be preference but i expected better since i love other tsujita stores.
Outstanding vegan Ramen!
Delicious food!
not bad or anything but with so many other options around it’s just not my favorite choice. noodles especially not the most ideal
