One of the best coffee shop’s in LA right now. As someone who travels the world for coffee and has visited over 20 coffee shops in Tokyo alone, Loquat Silver Lake is one of the few places in Los Angeles that truly reminds me of Tokyo’s coffee culture. The attention to detail, calm confidence behind the bar, and overall execution here feels legit.

Loquat Silver Lake is one of the best coffee shops in LA right now, truly reminding one visitor of Tokyo’s coffee culture. The attention to detail, calm confidence behind the bar, and overall execution feels legit. The baristas actually know their stuff, knowledgeable, passionate, and they execute washed beans beautifully. The drinks have clarity, sweetness, texture, and you can taste the origin characteristics without the coffee becoming overly acidic or harsh. The design is extraordinary, tucked away in a cool, quiet courtyard, with impeccable service. The regular coffee and cortado are solid. The specialty coffee scene in LA is good, but this place is serious, with a workflow that is dialed in and obvious quality control. Located in a newly refurbished strip of Sunset Blvd, this coffee bar serves excellent pour over coffee, and the few breakfast burritos were very good. The Geisha cortado was delicate, clean, layered, and balanced. The setup uses a Modbar and a Weber single dose grinder, details coffee people notice. The space is super aesthetic, minimal but warm, with an effortless cool vibe. Service was easy and friendly. A matcha was so smooth, perfectly balanced, and not too bitter. A go-to spot for good quality drinks and a chill, elevated atmosphere.
