My sister, her two young children and I stop by your Pico/Vermont location frequently always spending over $30. Today, my nephew was intrigued by the eggnog flavor but didn't order it because he wasn't sure he would like it so he stuck to his usual flavors. I decided to ask the woman helping us----- who generally helps us and is always pretty unfriendly, if she would give me a sample. Mateo's Ice Cream & Fruit Bars is one of the best ice cream spots in LA for exotic flavors from the Americas. There are lots of Latin flavors from Horchata to Sour Sop to Cafe Olla. The fruit bars are super refreshing and not too sweet, just perfect. The mango and strawberry bars were amazing. The ice cream is creamy and full of flavor. Some of the best ice cream and fruit smoothies are available, with a lot of flavor choices that always taste like the freshest version possible. The coconut and pineapple swirled ice cream is a great tip. Mateo's juices are really good, and they also serve a breakfast wrap with orange juice and a side of fruit. This is the only place around that sells Esquites. The staff is friendly, and the place has a chill vibe. Prices are really fair. The quality is consistent across all four locations. Parking can be difficult at times. Restroom available.
