July 8 update. Aaron again welcomed me, Samantha made the coffee - and the vibe is consistently upbeat with Queenie slamming and jamming orders out like clockwork. So why post about coffee? Philz Coffee offers a great place with plenty of places to sit, clean restrooms, and is close to the train station. The staff is awesome and extremely helpful, with everyone willing to answer questions. They have customers take a sip of their drink to make sure they like it. The coffee tastes great, and there is plenty of room to sit and enjoy food and drinks. It is very welcoming to stay and work or do homework there. Customers love the custom pour over vibe, as the staff actually asks how sweet or strong the drink should be. The Mint Mojito Coffee is pure magic, with a blend of creamy, bold coffee with refreshing mint that is perfectly sweetened. The mint mojito was refreshing and not overly sweet. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is quick for DTLA, with plenty of grab-and-go energy for a workday coffee run. Prices are reasonable. However, some experiences have been ruined by rude employees who talk down to customers and create tension, which kills the friendly culture the location is known for.
