This place is so good! The foods are totally beyond my expectations!

Long wait time, bad service

I’ve been coming here for over 15 years. While the format of the seating has changed a lot (especially since the pandemic) and I’m not the biggest fan of the current setup (too many walls blocking everything, the tablets never work properly), the food is still solid. Try the miso black cod, crispy salmon skin salad, crispy rice with spicy tuna, or mental butter udon.

I came here with a group of friends and was treated exceptionally well while enjoying great food. The prices and service are very good. We enjoyed a pitcher of Sapporo, a sushi roll, takoyaki, a massive croquette, and an awesome fried nagaimo dish. I loved the cozy, private vibe. This place is truly a gem and I highly recommend it. Will be back for sure.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Sat immediately, ordered what we wanted off the tablet, and the food was brought out at a considerate pace. Hung out without feeling pressured to leave. Ordered more. Loved every bit of it!

The server girl was very nice.
Thanks to you, we had a great time!
The recommended eggplant with miso was delicious.
However, the one with raw oyster salmon roe on top is also good value for money.
It's open until 24 hours, so you can use it for anything you want, including the second store.
Orders can be made from the tablet on the table, and you can also order with cash pay as you go.
It's a very nice shop where you can feel free to come.
Apparently the bar next to it is only open on Saturdays, so I thought I'd definitely go there next time.
Thank you for the meal!

This place is trash. Do not order. Salmon was tough and chewy. Portions so small. Uses the smallest amount of fish. Everything is mostly rice. I hope this place closes. Shame on them.

Tuesday, empty restaurant and waiting more than 20 minutes for a take out order that had been made more than 30 minutes before…

Great little sushi restaurant on Santa Monica. While Sawtelle (Japantown) has almost a dozen sushi restaurants, I will opt for Isakaya in the future! Sushi was really good and they have yakitori. The ambience is cozy and the booths feel private. Definitely worth checking out!

Excellent food and a fun ordering experience through the iPads. Great for larger groups, a fantastic find.

Came here because Nanbankan was busy. Firstly you order your food on a tablet on the table, then it asks you for a tip before you even get your food. apparently you could pay after you order on the ipad. but the nerve to ask for a tip before ANY SERVICE.
portions were beyond small. maybe the skewers were big enough for a toddler. maybe. not tasty, not remotely japanese. I think they cut chicken hearts in two. come on, chicken arts are $3/lb. On loopnet, the restaurant is up for sale, so they are trying to save money: just shut down already, cut your losses. $65 for two people, i woke up hungry while sleeping.

Cockroach crawled out of my bento box!! Avoid at all costs if you know what’s good for you. Infested kitchen.

Intimate atmosphere with the best fish, vegetables and pickled vegetables. Like being in Japan.
