We visited The Apple Pan opened in 1947, it is one of the oldest diner places in Los Angeles, for family lunch and the experience was very pleasant. The place maintains that classic diner style, with a U-shaped bar, simple atmosphere and a retro air that makes it unique.\nWe tried two of its more traditional options: the original 1929 Steakburger and the Ham & Cheese sandwich. I highlight the steakburger arrived juicy, well seasoned and with that characteristic smoky flavor...
The young cashier/server served me my warm apple pie 10 minutes before serving me my hamburger 😂 By the time the hamburger arrived and eaten, the apple pie was cold. Not a lot of brain power with that one. Imagine management providing job training and explaining to someone they should serve the meal before the dessert lol.
This place feels like stepping straight into the late nineteen forties where nothing has changed in the best possible way. You sit at the classic U shaped counter, watch the cooks move with the same rhythm they have kept since nineteen forty seven, and take in the smell of burgers sizzling on the flat top. The Hickory burger with cheese is the star of the place with its smoky sauce, crisp lettuce, melted cheese and that simple old school construction that reminds you why the classics...
