About Tofu Chon LA

The place offers Korean comfort food with a clean and organized environment. Service is attentive, simple and efficient, and refills are provided without ask. The soondubu broth is rich and flavorful with deep depth, and the kimchi is fresh and tasty. Panchan is fresh and the table is full of banchan and steaming tofu soup. Kalbi is grilled nicely with just the right amount of char, tender and well‑seasoned. Pork soon tofu stew is bubbling and rich, and the galbi + pork soon tofu combo is smoky, juicy and satisfying. Deep fried yellow croaker is perfectly crispy outside with tender, flaky fish. Japchae is chewy glass noodles tossed with vegetables in a lightly sweet sauce. Seafood pancake has crispy edges, packed with seafood and perfect for sharing. Pork cutlet is big, crispy and made with good quality meat. Bulgogi is tender, flavorful and served sizzling hot. Spicy clam over rice is an acquired taste, not for everyone, while bulgogi can be sweet and may need more savory for some. The food is pretty good, portions are great, and the spot is a great place to return next time in the area.

Amazing soon tofu
Stopped by Tofu Chon La for dinner while in town on a work trip, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. The soondubu had a rich, flavorful broth with great depth, and the kimchi was among the better versions I’ve had. The panchan was fresh, and they were happy to provide refills without having to ask.

They have amazing service, the environment is clean and organized.

Overall, the food is pretty good.
The seafood and kimchi are very fresh and tasty. The porkchop cutlet is very crispy. The spicy clam over rice is an acquired taste, it’s not for everyone. The bulgogi is on the sweet side, and it can use a little bit more savory for my personal taste.
