My dad worked at the Van De Kamp's in Glassell Park, on Fletcher Dr. for over 30 years ultimately retired when they shut down the bakery in 1990 due to bankruptcy. When He worked there approximately 500 people were employed and as they shut down were laying off hundreds at a time, the original Van De Kamp Family had long sold off the bakery in the 1970′s I believe. We've known this place since the sixties when we moved to Glendale 1966. Went to the drive in restaurant on the corner, must of passed it thousands of times. I need to know something, there's a cookie they I used to love, it's a maple flavor has a tan color I think pecans were in it. I love to know if they make them anywhere.
