“My husband and I have been to The Back Abbey in Claremont, but we recently came to the one in Upland for the first time.

We came during the weekend when they have their brunch menu available. A plus for us is that they have an outdoor patio that's dog friendly. We arrived a little after 10:00am with two of our dogs. We were immediately greeted and told that we could pick any table we wanted.

There's actually a very nice view from the outdoor patio. We were trying to eat a little cleaner after the holidays so we both got water and both ordered the Steak Salad ($18.00) and added avocado for an additional charge. The Steak Salad comes with grilled beef tenderloin, mixed greens, peppadew peppers, red onions, and feta cheese dressed in sun-dried tomato vinagrette. It was very good.

Our server checked on us several times, refilled our waters, and asked if our dogs wanted a water bowl. They had a lot of items on their brunch menu that sounded really good so next time, I will have to try more items.“

The bands playing were good. I loved the vibe and the atmosphere. I try to visit whenever I'm in town.“

The food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I shared the combo plate with filet, chicken, and ground beef—it was more than enough for the both of us. The filet was juicy and sooo good! Servers (I'd name everyone but some of them are sadly gone) are always so attentive and welcoming, including the owner Jack who also acknowledges us when he is there. I wish I had appreciated it more back in the day! Chocolate martinis for our party of 4 started the meal. Way overpriced but oh so good! A BOGO free would have been nice! I ordered my "usual", the 10oz top sirloin, and was overjoyed to see my favorite baseball cut presented and cooked to perfection! The entire experience was great and made me realize I spent too many years away from this gem of a restaurant. “Friendly service when you call on the phone... although there might be a slight chance of 'lost in translation' I had asked for Oolong Lemon Iced Tea and when I got there it was Jasmine Green Tea with Lemon but turns out it was delicious and refreshing so HA!!!

I used to drive by this place all the time and the few times I attempted to go they were closed, and last week I worked late on Friday and tried to call in an order around 8:45PM, google page has hours closed at 10:00pm - this is incorrect they close at 9:00pm. So I couldn't get something to eat as I was driving from work (Riverside) and wouldn't make it in time.

So last night I worked late and thought I would try them again. I ordered the Eggrolls I wanted the traditional Vietnamese ones but I got the Shrimp Eggrolls instead (not a biggie) and the Cream Cheese Rangoons... after I placed my order they called back almost immediately to say they were out of the Rangoons so I ordered the Pork Banh Mi (pronounced barn me) instead - HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS cuzzzz Honnneyyyyyyy

That Banh Mi was so goshdurn delicious!! so good in fact that I didn't manage to take a photo LOL it was wrapped in hardy white (sandwich) paper with all the trimmings (pickled Julienne carrots, daikon, cilantro and jalapenos) in a ziplock and LET (hand clap) ME (hand clap) TELL (hand clap) YOU!! that french bread was perfecto! I really am sorry I didn't pause long enough to capture it but OH well next time I'll be sure to do so ((smile)).

Parking lot was empty but I got there slightly before closing so it figures. There were 2 people sitting eating and they had an entire booth full of food in front of them that looked and smelled AMAZING. I'm happy to have found another 'comfort food' spot so close to home. BTW the young lady at the bar was so nice but the 3 people that worked there that were near the exit when I left never said "Bye or Thank you for coming" - and you KNOW I'm in Hospitality and every impression counts I'm ultra aware.

The security staff were welcoming and friendly, the bartenders were top notch, and even at their busiest time, they never stopped smiling or engaging with the patrons. The bar area was so clean and organized. (That wins then double 5 stars). The staff kept the tables clean, they were right there to pick up glasses and make sure it was tidy. The DJ kniws how to read the room??he had us dancing the night away!! The crowd was amazing, very diverse and everyone was friendly and gave nothing but chill vibes.
