Yeah, another biased review because I REALLY LIKE KATSU CURRY.
The cleanliness, the staff, the aroma, the food - Kagura already had me at Hello from the door. Then came the katsu, katsudon, and curry, and suddenly everyone else’s plate started looking like part of my order.
My family may still have questions about how I ended up finishing their plates. Zero regrets. Every bite was worth the curry-ous behavior.

One thing that is easily overlooked, is how clean a restaurant. This place was spotless, no dust on any crevice. Restaurant gave a reminiscent feeling of Japan.

Kagura Monterey Park serves exceptional tonkatsu, with the Premium Pork Tonkatsu Set featuring remarkably tender and juicy pork fried to a perfect golden brown with a light, crisp panko crust. The set includes finely shredded cabbage, miso soup, fluffy white rice, and traditional pickles. The katsu, katsudon, and curry are highlights, though the hamburger cheese curry flavor is too salty and one dimensional. The oyster and katsu fried combo is really good and fried really well. Overall, every bite is worth it.
